Hydro Growers: 1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seeds
2. How old are your plants? 56 days old
3. How tall are your plants? About 13-18 inches tall
4. What type of hydro system are you using? drip
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using? GH Flora Nova at 1100 PPM.
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution? try to keep it around 6.0
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water? 230 ppm
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution? 1110
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? approx 20 C
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? Nope
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check? Nope
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? drip system - watered 2x a day for 30 minutes of at a time with a continuous stream during waterings.
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
14. How close are your lights to the plants? about 3 inches
15. What size is your grow space in square feet? Enough for now...
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Low humidity - 20% and temp stays around 75
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? NO! I WILL KILL THEM!!!!!!!BUGS MAKE ME CRAZY!!
18. How much experience do you have growing? This be my maiden voyage, yar!
The problem is that the tips of the leaves are starting to yellow and brown. I also notice this happening along the sides of some of the leaves too. One of the leaves pictured actually has a hole in it. It looks like a piece of it was just cut out with scissors and flipped up. I don't see any bugs around. I am only using FloraNova and have not added anything other than ph down solution. I am about to flush the tray out with regular water and change the rez out for a cleaner one.
I was gone for 8 days and you can see how much nutrient solution was lost in those 8 days here.

lol, it's there. trust me. that's probably the best picture I could take of it too. It appears to be identical today. I didn't notice any further development of the browning. I did move it about 2 inches farther away from the light last night.

I think you're just paranoid
If you think you see browning (burning of the leaves) raise your lights and ease up on feeding is the general rule for larger plants. Raise your lights a bit(I don't think you need to)? I'd assume your not giving any nutrients do that seedling, correct?
---
DOH, having an unknown ppm for seedlings isnt good. Drop it down to plain water if your worried about burning your plants.

yeah, i dropped it down to just water - still ph'd at 5.8 though. Here's an update of the ailing infant. It's gotten worse.
I think i've moved past paranoia.

Aight, the root structure was pretty good when i put it in the bigger rockwool piece. That's a good sign, i suppose.

you shouldn't fert your plant till it has 2-3 sets of weed leaves. . . . then it is in vegetative stage; you could be burning the sensitive new root system causing the discoloring due to nute burn

noted. lol, i flushed the cube out last night and it looks better already. I also moved it a bit farther away from the lights. The base of the first true leaves have become much larger and very green. Let's hope that progresses. thanks for your input guys!

not that it matters at this point how close your lights are you probably dont need to move them up.. they're floursecents so that distance you posted is probably safe.

3 inches away from the plant with a floro should be perfect actually.

um, you've been gone for 8 days
could the ppm of your nutrient solution be stronger than you thinks?
the first picture looks like you got some little fuckers crawling on that leaf.

I use a ppm reader that I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of. I have done thorough visual inspections and have found no bugs, flies, or insects. Last night i changed the rez water and did a flush with pure h20. And yes, i was gone for 8 days. :P

Hold on a sec here, are you saying that the nutrient solution can drop like it did in the pic but the ppm isn't going up. (if that is the case the meter is way way off)

that's what I thought
but generally speaking I make lots of mistakes
he did say he changed his nutrients and flushed with pure h20.. I guess make sure you top off your reservoir with h2o and possibly nutrient solution so long as you don't go over your desired ppm.
