Nutrients!
    #398840 - 04/09/10 10:20 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

I am wondering if it would be ok to start feeding my plants more nutrients (Fox Farms Grow Big, Veg).

Both plants have their second set of actual fan leaves coming in, and measure, from tip to tip of the big leaves, about 10 inches.

They are getting pretty fuckin big, and I have only been feeding them 1/2 tbsp/gal a week for the past three weeks. Would it be safe to up the dose to like, 1 or 1.5 or even 2 tbsp/gal a week? Or should I just 1/2 tbsp/gal every other watering? Or every watering?

Also, I know this question could easily be answered if I just looked, I figured I would ask anyways. When is the IDEAL time to tie down the plants and start doing LST. And, if I wanted to try and ScrOG is it even necessary to LST early?

Listen to your plants, they will tell you when they are hungry for more. Are they starting to lighten up at all?

If you do up the food, I would go to 3/4 next, maybe one, but you shouldn't be stepping it up any higher than that at a time.

Thats what I figured. It would probably shock the shit out of them if I upped their dosage by too much.

But, they haven't been getting light at all. Still green as this message board. I also figured since they are doing so well I could up their dosage and promote their already vigorous growth a little more.

that seems fairly large for a plant with only 2 sets of fan leaves, are they getting sufficient light ?

Right now they are in....oh my god I dont even know how big the pots are lol.

The two baby plants are the plants I am speaking of. On the right and left sitting on the five gallon buckets. I looked underneath at the holes in the pots and I do see some roots starting to pop out of there.

When will I know it is time to transplant? And how big of a pot do you think I will need?

Oh, and btw, that picture is about a week old, the babies are like 4-5 times bigger than that now.

i think once they are about the same size as your bigger plants ( a bit smaller) they could go into some 5 gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottom, when you do it you should bury the stem a bit in the dirt, to counteract any stretching if theres a decent amount of stem before the bottom leaves. do you know wether they are ladies yet? or are they from seed
??

They are from seed and I do not know if they are ladies yet. I don't see any balls yet, nor do I see pistils. Actually, to be honest, I don't exactly know what I am even looking for to figure out sex hahaha.

Would it be bad if I transplanted them into different soil? When I transplant them into five gallon buckets I was thinking of buying a couple bags of FFOF and filling those with that.

Geez, those are tiny, they should'nt be getting much at all, if any. Hard to tell by the pic but it looks like I might be able to see the beginning of burn already.

it could cause problems with ph hot spots which could be a bitch of a problem to fix once you have them, i think it would probably be better to stick to the same growing medium they were started.

heres what your looking for

Ok so I am going to just keep them in the same soil then. At about how many weeks will they show sex?

These two seeds popped March 14th. So they are about five days short of the one month mark.

Yeah they got burned a while back. Week two I believe it was. I was feeding them 1/2tbsp/gal once a week (recommended on bottle of Grow Big for seedlings) and somehow they got burnt.

They have recovered nicely though, bounced back 110 percent I would say.

Most of the reccomended dosages on any brand of nute give way too high of a concentration for seedlings and cuttings. Generally you wanna take what they tell you and cut it back to 25%.

Ah. Well, the problem I had with the burn was minor and is long gone by now. They seem to be sucking those nutes up perfectly fine right now, and I am going to feed them 3/4tbsp/gal starting tomorrow.

Hit up my grow log and you can see for yourself, the plants are in great shape!
