dammit for the last time it's spelled siphon.
and yes I know that's what you want, I just answered this exact question 10 minutes ago on the shroomery. use your mouth to start the flow, and a turn gate to stop it when you want. if you want to get fancy you could even route a bucket into the line so you could mix in nutrients. whole getup should cost you like $30 at home depot

the way you SHOULD do it is such a small trickle. and maybe even have it attached to a fertalizer.
very little traffic that way

yep. If you use one of those black porous "soaker hoses" with a very light fert feed you can pretty much plant in the spring and don't even have to return until harvest

1 hand powered (crank action) pump 1 jug/container that holds as much water as you can carry(or you may not even have to) 1 power drill to crank the pump
= portable water
you can pump water long distances like this but I think it could be complicated manuvering your hose around if your plants were scattered

if you have your plants downhill from your water source (creek running between two hills) you can lead a water line to them from uphill and let gravity do all the work for you.
a siphon will only work in this way, the output needs to be lower than the input

i dont think thats entirely true about the direction of the siphon.
if its extreme elevation difference then maybe, but for it to just go up over a lil hill or log or to go up to the pots, the siphon should be strong enough right?

a siphon only works through gravity. it will go uphill, but only if the eventual exit is lower in elevation than the opening.
otherwise you would have generated a free energy system, defying the laws of physics
to move up in elevation, you need a pump to generate work and get the water moving against gravity.

think about it on a smaller scale. if you have a bit of tubing, and put one end in a bathtub while holding the rest up in the air, does water magically start siphoning out against gravity? no, because it's impossible.
however, if you hold that opening below the level of the intake in the tub, and get the water moving, the tub will drain itself hands-free.

nah polk. you can get water ot them.
yrat, i was also thinin bathtub/pool
if the end is lower, the water will flow.
i guess i was thinkin to hard about it. thinkin as long as the tubing as a whole slopes down, it doesnt matter if it goes up, sideways, inbtween
OP, u should go for the no traffic watering!!!

it will all depend on the number of plants. a dozen or so would be easy to water by hand, especially with water nearby. significantly more than that, and you might want to look into a hand or solar powered pump.

yeah, imagine watering 30 plants ever couple days...by hand...
brah...
not only is it a lot of labor, but youll leave trails, leading right to ur plants.
i used to grow by creeks, and i would walk the creek to avoid leaving a footpath.
just be careful
