Vermiculture...making your own soil by recycling
    #139464 - 11/02/08 11:32 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Does anyone have any experience with vermiculture, the process of composting with the help of worms?  Anyone have any success with using their own nutrient rich compost as a substitute for store bought potting soil?

You can recycle soil by composting it with blood or bone meal or different quano's. Blood and bone meal comes from slaughtered cows that could have dieses so guano would be best.

You can also make compost by compost worms which I do on a semi large scale which would give you worm castings which is a good vegetative growth soil amendment but not a potting soil. You can use 20% worm castings no problem though I know some people that have used a third it won't burn your plants but it's very heavy.
