CFL Veggie Closet Explosion

My 3rd closet grow, the other two were SCRoG, and now its time to try something new, DWC!
I am a CA Caregiver with over 100 patients. Which need genes, because medical grade cannabis is hella expensive.
So do the math:
100 patients x12 Clones Each --------------- 1200 Clones =or= 600 Mature =or= 600 Clones and 300 Mature
But for this caregiving greenthumb, we will not be going over 99 plants, until new legislation is passed. Which is really sick and cruel for our patients, so write and get out there and have a FUCKING VOICE!
Anywayz....
I've caught myself drooling off some of the harvests from experienced DWC horticulturists. So it's my turn at it, so we are on day 4 of this setup in a new closet, currently being used for veggie.
========= THE GENES ========= 1 mother, Super Silver Haze, thanks to a fellow greenthumb. As well as 28 SSH clones in 2nd week of vegging. Waiting for 12/12.
========= THE SETUP ========= One Closet: 3ft x 4ft x 9ft 2 3.5 Gallon Buckets 2 5 Gallon Buckets 2 Dual Hose Air Pump 4 Air Stones 2 12" Top Lid Buckets Lots of Hydroton, and perlite for the clones. Mylar B&W Poly Duct Tape Extension Cord
Light: 125w Daylight CFL, 6,500-7,000 lumens Hood: CFL Reflector for $25.00!
80% Chem / 20% Organic Nute Lineup: foxfarm hydro growbig 3-2-6, superbloom, calmag+, superthrive, fish emulsion, epsom salt and hygrozyme for changing out nutes
========= ON THE WAY (1-2 days) ========= 2 HydroFarm DWC kits (drip ring & column) 1 bonsai mother of Grand Daddy Purple 100 site homemade EZ-Cloner with ultra sonic fogger (teflon replaced discs) 100 ez-collars 100 net pots 4 27Watt T5's 1 4" Vortex 1 22" Carbon Coal Filter 1 CO2 Tank 1 CO2 Regulator
========= COMING SOON (later) ========= Flowering Room 600w HPS Lumenare 6 Hood

It looks like you're venturing off on an exciting, ambitious grow!
I have some questions and comments about what's going on, to better understand what's up and to offer some new perspective on everything for you to consider.
First off, what is the dimensions of your set of 27 watt T5's? Are they intended to serve as the light source for your ninety-nine clones in the EZ cloner? What's the dimensions of the EZ cloner, as well? I'm trying to gain an understanding of how everything will be setup and flow from one stage to the next, so if you could illustrate how in what fashion the clones will navigate from the mother to the flowering room, that'd be great.
What is the floor space going to be for the flowering room, and how many plants are you going to have in there at one time? Are you going for more of a sea of green approach, perhaps a perpetual harvest?
Right now, I don't think the CFL is providing enough light for anything but the mother. Looking at the picture that shows the mother, the clones, and the light, I really don't think the clones are getting much of anything, considering how the intensity of the CFL does not allow for much light penetration. Also, although this fits underneath the question about how the flow of everything will be, are the twenty-eight clones you have now not fitting your intended process, just something you're running in the meanwhile? The one concern that should really be emphasized is making sure there is enough light of the right intensity being distributed evenly for all of the plants, because otherwise you're going to have unnecessary stretch occurring, and with a strain like SSH, it will be really counter-productive.
I'm also wondering about your SSH mother. I think that huge plant you have right there isn't going to work very effectively as a mother, considering its size (you're not going to be able to keep enough light spread all over it considering how tall and bushy it is, especially with a CFL bulb). Also, I'm not sure if keeping a mother in DWC would be as preferential as soil, considering how much it encourages growth compared to soil (an important thing about mothers is to somewhat restrict growth). You should definitely check out this link, which is an excellent guide to keeping bonsai mothers, full of great pictures detailing the process. Mothers that are grown and trained through this method will produce a dozen or two good cuttings every two weeks. It'd definitely be possible to grow it out bigger or keep another mother, depending on how many clones you are going to need (that amount would need to be taken at that interval whether or not you would be using them, as part of the training process), but it would definitely be important to follow the principles here to gain the most from the plant with the least amount of requirements from the environment (space and light).
Oh, and since you didn't mention it, what kind of water will you be using? I'm also curious about what kind of different reasons the patients you will be care-giving for need medicinal marijuana. Generally, I've read that those with different kinds of physical ailments benefit more from indica strains, due to their narcotic, body buzz, whereas sativas (like your SSH) would work better for people who need mental relief, due to the clear, energetic highs. (although I'd imagine more racy highs that can some paranoid might not work best for stuff like that). I'm just curious how you decided on SSH as a medicinal strain.
Anyways, I really like how you've laid out your grow journal thus far, and I'm really looking forward to seeing someone post here that is running something a bit bigger in scope around here (larger scale hydro grow).

Sirus, thanks for the interest in my garden. The clones have light now! The pic was taken just before I found a stool to use. I just read over my post, and it's organized, but very vague, i should of waited till I awoke to post.
The Clone CFL's =============== Dimensions: 24” x 15” x 3" Output: 1,800 lumens per CFL, 4 total (est. 4500) Color: 6400k Power: 24w
This will be placed on the left side of the closet, lengthwise, over the 100 site ez-cloner. On the right will be 4 bonsai mothers, once I select some good mums. I am getting a bonsai GDP mother in soil that I will give its own light, because I am going to drop another 125w CFL right parallel to the one posted in the pic above.
This SSH mother did severely stretch and is being pruned right now. We will have another go at a mother soon, just have to control it from the start. As for soil vs. hydro on mothers, I go both ways, but in this case, I want to put them on heavy feeding and there are ways to control stretch. There are 3 branches soon to be prunes back on the very bottom, that were jetting out when I got the mother, so I am training them to reach more light. I like bushy mothers, not skinny ones.
The flowering room will be up within 2 weeks for the GDP. These SSH clones, however, will be off to another grower to flower. Who is one of my patients that actually prefers the SSH as medicine for his bi-polar disorder.
I will post updated pics tomorrow after hydroshop run, in mean time.
When choosing medicine, I have to consider the whole spectrum of cannabis effects and what work's positively with what symptoms/illnesses.
This is the most interesting part of my job, because everyone is unique in this aspect.
I have found that strong pure Sativa's release pressure in the cranial area for my patients that suffer from chronic migraines/headaches. For strong Indica's I find they tend to create more of an appetite and make you sleepy, but I've found both of these to be true for hybrids that are around 50/50 indica/sativa strains. So the myriad of beneficial effects I find with Hybrids is very interesting to me and the potential physical and physiological effects.
I have a terminal ill cancer patient that has lost over 40lbs from not eating, and the only thing that works for him is a strong Indica/Hybrid with hash on top.
I thank you for all your questions and hope to keep ya tuned, have you studied or dealt with medical effects? I am curious what your thoughts are...
Until next time, thanks for the help and info.
Every good thing I learn here will be passed onto my patients so it means alot to me.

Came back from the store around 7, just finishing up the last bits.
Will post pics in the morning.
Update: Got the 4x24w T5's in place, and the 125w where I want it. Completed parks checklist for the 100-site aero-cloner, will post tutorial in other section if I have time to. I be busy these days!
30 feminized Pot of Gold x Cali Orange and 3 Big Momma's sprouted this morning! The big momma's are a very healthy outdoor strain and very bushy, high yielding. Parented by Master Kush and Orange Crush.
Now there are already 1", stoked on the potential here.
G.D.P. mom on here way.
Got new high output O2 pump and 6" centrifugal fan for exhaust into attic. Blower will go into attic and pull air out of room w/ carbon coal filter going into room.
Fan @ 540cfm Room @ 95cft ============ Rate @ 10.7seconds to clear whole closet Too Powerful? The grate on the door is 12" x 24" w/ a filter, so I am not worried about the fan being too strong. I might just go buy the dang speed controller. Got a good deal on the fan so I can use it later for bigger room.
See ya in the morning!
Happy Medicating

Looking awesome man, try lowering that light a bit for the seedlings or getting a fan blowing on them if you want to stop the stretching.

They were down to 1" all night with the fan on, I misted this morn. and put the dome back on, we shall see..
If they continue, I am going to rotate cubes, but that might delay around 5-7 days..so I don't want to if possible.

stretching isnt SUCH a horrible thing.
get a nice light breeze on them from a fan, and sturdy up those stems, and youll just have some tall sexy plants.
lookin like models.
unless low and bushy is what youre going for

You'll be able to tell if it's too much air if your leaves look wilted even though your substrate is wet. Beyond that, there can't be too much air flow right.

Hey man, thanks for the clarification. You definitely know what you're doing, and I have a good feeling this thread is just going to get cooler and cooler.
Nope, haven't done much of anything regarding medical effects, pretty new to growing itself. In your experiences so far, what strains have you found to work best for the different situations you've helped with?
Quick question: What RH do you shoot for, in veg, and in flower? Right now we're growing with no humidity due to the damned air conditioner (if it isn't one thing, its another) and we're dreaming of being able to get what we need to get it normal (since its inducing potassium deficiency), and your idea as to what would be most optimal would be appreciated.

Hey Everyone!
CLOSET = FINISHED!
Minus some tweaks that need to be done, I can now focus on the health of the plants.
The GDP Mum brought home was infested, which is why YOU should ALWAYS inspect clones/mothers from other growers very closely to inspect for insects that will risk your other plants.
The insect: spider mites!
The solution: Organic watered down insect spray that is safe for indoor gardens ($4) and a non-residual bub bomb (3x$10).
Opened door, ran 20 minutes, than turned exhaust back on. Hopefully killed some shit upstairs too.
No signs of any live mites!
Transported the weak GDP mum into her DWC bucket, vegging her back to life.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Going to buy another CFL w/ hood for the 2 more mums on the way, and I am going to put a shelf above the current clones for another clone area which will host yet another CFL rack of T5's.
The flowering room will have to wait as I am moving into a house in 2 mo.'s.. so sit tight
The Stealth Closet w/ minimal light
The Exhaust - 453cfm Room:86cubicft
At a glance
They will look better tonight, all down and frowning because I just put the supports in.
The BIG MOMMA:
This is the highest it has been so far, with ac running in the house, it is at 45% humidity, and 76F. Which is ideal for vegging or flowering plants.
Clones/Seedlings I aim for 90-95% humidity!
Everything else I try and keep below 50% to avoid problems, the higher the temps are the more humid it will be.
Will post Aerocloner next!!!

looking good! bummer about the spider mites, but at least it sounds like you got them dealt with. you got quite a few strains for such a small closet! gdp, ssh, big mama, and maybe more to come? very cool.

Now I got more, they will come and go now until I finish my flowering room. Which is really hard on me. I can't get too attached to each baby individually, but I can on a scientific level for growing purposes.
Okay, let's go check out the closet- Fri., Sept. 19th
THE SSH IS MASSIVE! She be growing and growing and growing. I am about to take another set of cuttings from her.
The 'Middle Veg' Bucket: (Clockwise from Blue AirLine) SSH, Platinum Kush, AK-47, SSH, CaliOxPOTofGOLD, SSH
GDP Mum - Still recovering from transplant/mite attack Might of had a little shock, growth looks a bit stunted.
The TEMPORARY Clone Dome - housing a great breed! (PRIVATE Kush x AK-47)
Plant Eye Level:
The AEROCLONER is next to go in under the floros. Will move those buckets to MID.
SSH Mother has a few set of cuttings, will re-veg, then is off to be flowered and harvested!
BTW, just put in a order of genes from a top-notch breeder in norcali.
Here's the request: Super Silver Haze Green Crack Herojuana G-13 Haze Sour D Af-wreck
Wait and see what comes down!
