Im wondering if a 250 watt hps is good enough for vegging? And I have a 400 watt hps for flowering. The thing im wondering is if the 250 watt hps would be good for veg? Also the 250 hps is digital the 400 watt hps is one from htg supply. Which should I veg/flower with im pretty sure itd be the 400 watt. The flower box will be like 2x3.5x3.5 and the veg would be like 4ftx1.5ftx4ft. Does this sound like a decent setup. I kinda wish I couldve gotten a MH but I ended up with two hps, I could also wire both up flor flowering and use a couple cfls and a flouro for veg. What would you reccomend for the spaces and lighting?

How many plants are you doing?
250 watts is fine, MH would have been better because its higher in the blue end of the spectrum but 250 watts plenty for veg especially with a small amount of plants.

Im wanting to veg out a few mothers, take clones, and then find the best smoking mother by flowering the mothers. (have the clones marked and grow out the best mother in veg from clone). Im wondering if htg sells a mh conversion bulb that will fit a 250 watt hps light, im about to go look(they add it in when u buy the 400hps as an option)? If a couple cfls (100watt equivs) + a normal tube flouro could hold say two single mothers. Then I could have 650 watts hps for flowering. Or i could have 400 hps for flowering and 250 hps (maybe mh if i can get a conversion bulb) for veg. Should I veg with the hps or go as much as i can with them for flowering?

Do any of you guys use the HPS/MH switchable units like THIS one?
Seems like a great deal, having the best spectrum available at the right time in one piece...

SWIM's friend has used a 400 for flower and 250 for veg with very nice results, both HPS. IMO a 600w for flower would be better but this combo works very nicely.
The HPS/MH argument may be valid but it's a smaller factor in the large equation of variables.

Cool, thats what I was wondering other than if the 250 watt added in with the 400 would increase the yield noticably? Ive read somewhere you can get roughly 1 gram per watt with sog. And if thats true than adding both for the flowering room would increase yield by about 250 grams. If cfls are good for veg than I can set something up with the 650 watts of my hps in one box for flower. I just dont really want to make my veg stage suck and have strecthed out mothers.
