A Poem I Wrote
#92849 - 07/24/08 11:23 PM (16 years, 4 months ago) |

A poetic reflection of a thought during my mushroom trip at the Carnegie Art Museum that I actually composed while on a run.

A tree standing still, emotionless yet alive Holds a plaque dedicated to memories Loved ones hope survive.
And as I pass with fleeting eyes, I ask myself what memories I hold As strangers pass me by. ---

here's one i wrote after my first shroom trip
_____________
Floating leaves, watermills, and spillways...
driving down the interstate it's all a waiting game glancing out of the windows everything looks the same but alas! For we may have something here the bark on the trees are looking a little purple. "no, that's just you" they said. oh well. reaching the gate, we take notice of the "frog man" that jots down on his clipboard "dreyer on guinevere", they say while we continuously laugh.
...stepping out of the van, we find ourselves in a land full of life and potential. the setting was that of a storybook. a fairy tale. the trees and grass so vibrant everlasting life in all directions floating leaves, watermills, and spillways surrounding the vicinity broken mirrors on the ground, and the only expression on our face... is a smile. picking flowers and venturing through front yards we ask ourselves the question "what reason do we have NOT to smile?" as we sit on the back porch in our lawn chairs, staring at the clouds we wonder why anyone in the world, or even the people around us, could ever suffer from discomfort and sorrow. "why are you laughing?" we replied: "why not?" "just look at the clouds, they're so beautiful. ....like they have their own personality"

dude i could definitely tell you wrote that after a mushroom trip. "what reason do we have NOT to smile?" and "just look at the clouds, they're so beautiful. ....like they have their own personality" made it so obvious.

No, it's about how people attribute memories to an object that has absolutely no emotions, and often times no connection to said memories. And the second part parallels in a way such that when people see a stranger they attribute their preconceptions, the face and clothes of their friends or their enemies and subconsciously like or dislike that person.
