 Who here has hiked Yosemite's trails or other trails in the Sierra?...

Me and my friend want to go on a 3 day hike through Yosemite for his birthday next month...
I have been to Yosemite several times but have never hiked. So I was wondering, for those of you that have been, what trails should we consider? Something that we could do in 3 days, hitting the trail at sunrise the first day and getting back in the evening on the 3rd day....
I would consider my self in decent physical shape and will be even better fit by the time we go....My friend on the other hand, is a daily smoker and in fair shape, and i don't think he understands the elevations we are going to be at and the fact that the trails can get pretty steep at times. But he really wants to do this so I'm down for it...
I have an excellent sense of direction, and I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to outdoors or survival in the "woods". I can read the weather pretty well, and i know that it is not uncommon for temps to get down into the 30s and 20s at night. And for there to be thunderstorms during the day.
So any trail recommendations?....
Anything we should know before we get ahead of ourselves?...

Better find an easy trail to start out on if you're not in very good physical shape. The Sierras are some pretty rugged mountains.

I once tripped mushrooms at a Pennsylvania state park, explored, and knocked on trees to hear what note sounds. Does that count?
