Is Mineral Fertilizer overhyped?
    #871760 - 03/06/25 01:36 AM (22 days, 18 hours ago)

From what I see, it definitely makes sense for large-scale operations. But for hobby growers, it seems like a lot of effort for not that impressive results. Especially when using it with coco, it feels like a hassle—you need to get the water temperature right, the EC level right, the pH right. Sure, you get a bigger yield, but from everything I've read, the quality and taste suffer.

Compared to something like Greenhouse Feeding Bio line with soil, which I’m currently using, mineral fertilizers just seem like way more work for mediocre gain. Greenhouse Feeding Bio is insanely easy and still delivers top results. So I’m wondering—are mineral ferts really worth it for hobby growers? Or is it more for people who just enjoy fine-tuning everything and going all-in on the experience?

I’ve never tried them myself. But for my third grow, I’ll be using a mineral-based booster from Greenhouse Feeding—though that’s just an additive, and even that is super simple to use. So I’m curious to see how it goes. What’s your take?

Real organic growing can be super tricky to figure out.  Bottled organics is more expensive, but comparatively easier.

Coco growing is easy as well, but only if you put in the effort to learn the method and build a well designed setup for it.  The irrigation equipment is the biggest cost, the nutrients are quite cheap.

Quality depends more on the grower than the type of nutrients.
