You know what would really be a slap in the face to society?
If the degree of regulation imposed on a drug was proportional to its actual health risks and propensity for social detriment.
Because that would mean that basically everything would have to be less regulated than alcohol. And ain't no way in fuck they're making alcohol illegal again.

He's currently challenging the current British drug policy, as it defaults on the obligation to protect public health and welfare, by exempting alcohol and tobacco from the legal restrictions imposed on everything else by their 1971 law. He has a solid legal case here, though it's not likely to get him out of prison any sooner.
