Plants Strength and Vigour Question
    #86966 - 07/18/08 01:15 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

FOAF said the duration of a plant should only be 3-4 months if Indica or Longer if Sativa. I know this...ok...If FOAF was supposed to Veg plant for 3 months and then flour...would it lose thc at any point or what would be the disadvantages to vegging too long?

Well, typically one only would keep plants in the vegetative state for around a month to a month and a half (how long it usually takes for the plant to reach sexual maturity), and the different times listed for strains only refer to the flowering period, unless there was another reason of his own that he was supposed to keep them in vegetative state for that long. I can't really think of any disadvantages in intentionally keeping them in vegetative state for too long. People often keep mother plants in vegetative state for years to provide clones for flowering, for example. The biggest factor to take into consideration when deciding how long to keep the plants in vegetative state is the size that they will get to. Once you put them into flowering state, they will stretch to about two to three times the size they were. Another thing to keep in mind is that you'll need to ensure you're providing enough room for the roots to keep growing if you're vegetating them longer.

You shouldn't experience any loss in THC once you do flower the plants as long as they were given the opportunity to grow as much roots as they needed to make up the difference in size, and also that light is still able to reach all of the plant at the right levels.
