Hello I’m a first time grower, I’m thinking of going the hydroponic route and I need some help and advice. What are the best sativa strains to grow? What is the best substrate or soil? And what kind of hydroponic grow tent kit should I go with?

Skip the kits, piece one together yourself with better equipment.
Drain to waste coconut coir is pretty easy if you can automate the fertigation and runoff.
Don't even think about growing real sativas until you are an experienced grower.
I would advise going the dirt route until you have a handle on the process, if you go the hydro route you have to remember they are all connected together, if something goes wrong like say your water got mucked up, or your water filtration goes haywire, it will ruin the whole crop, with dirt, all you have to do is remove the bad plant and everything else will be fine. Hydro is way more work and costs twice as much to do it then dirt. A lot of variables to consider. Hydro is a very advanced way to grow, and you really have to know what you are doing to be successful. Trust me, you will have a few issues with dirt, but way easier to resolve and troubleshoot. Whatever way you decide, good luck and let us know what you decided and how it is going for you. Peace
