Hash is very much a "quality in, quality out" scenario. Brown temple balls made from bubble hash can be very good, depending on the quality of the bubble used to produce it. Fresh frozen bubble hash is ideal, but some strains just don't wash well, so if you go the bubble hash route I would throw together a test jar with 10-15g of flower and some ice and water to see how well it washes.
For black hash, I would think you mean something like charas, which can be made from live plants with nothing more than your own two hands.
