I was thinking about acquiring the LED UFO light in the near future. I've heard positive results elsewhere. I would love to hear from anyone else on here who has experience with LED grows.

I'm not too impressed by the results of LED's after checking out the High Times side by side comparison tests they did with UFO LED vs. 400W HID Light. Give it a while and the technology will get better.

It could be useful if the electricity bill is a concern.

how much are the UFO's. The solaris brand LED fixtures are bad ass and made for growing corals in a reef tank. And I think I remember reading that you can adjust the light spectrum as well. Only downside is that they are expensive as hell

Google them. They are about $600.

The real question is how many lumens are these giving off and how far is the range?

What are the wavelengths of the LEDs? I don't see why it would be hard to make your own; LEDs (considering the scope, $600) aren't that expensive, and a 90watt power supply wouldn't be hard.

NO, the real question is how many PAR watts they give off. plants dont use lumens, they use photosyntheticly active radiation.

Ive seen a few documented grows, LED's seem to be good/great for veg. Flowering starts off good, but HID is still needed to get dense, full buds. There was a side by side on icm g, using the same reservoir, and LED looked denser though veg, and the first stretch, but once bud site set, HPS was undoubtedly KING ---- I would also like to add that those 'UFO LED DISC' are a complete ripoff IMHO. One of the main advantages to LED, is that lights can be placed anywhere, at any angle.

Of all the reading i've done on LED's it seems they're best suited when used in conjunction with a HID.

yeah, im an outdoor guy, but when i do go indoors i dont want to fuck around with ventillation or worry about my electric bill anymore. and the copters kinda bug me with a HPS. my indoor grows prior to, have been with HPS but im tired of all the worry and extra hassel.
i grow more for the grow than quantity, like i said my outdoor keeps me happy for a while. so this is why im taking interest in LED's
still no one has said anything about using them, or shown there set up. waiting to see!

I have a LED panel i have been using with a G13 plant and some Kali Mist clones from a mother plant i grew from seed Thanks again Captain Kirk {i still owe you }
Anyway my LED G13 plant looks a lot healthier/greener than my other girls that are just under flouros right now
The Led`s are probably only beneficial as a supplemental light and there is no way i would pay the big bucks for a UFO at this point I bought my panel off of e-bay for about $50 and i like what i see from it so far I will post some comparison G13 pics later I like this G13 strain a lot so far I got 5 females out of 6 seeds i started This is the male and i let him bust a few pods before i removed him
I have a Sun Systems 400 watter but i have just used my Flouros so far I kinda like not having to mess with the high power/heat equipment these daze
Thanks again Capt Kirk Congrats on your Modship

I see that your panel has both blue and orange lights on it, am I right?
Do you know anything about the light spectrums and whether or not more colors might be beneficial?
