I've been tending to a simulation that's been running for the last 2 days on my work laptop. It generates a fuck-ton of output data (multiple TBs), and the software I'm using needs to be connected to the company VPN in order to run correctly. So every 5 or 6 hours I have to move the data onto a larger external drive and make sure the VPN hasn't disconnected.
I did that, cleaned up the kitchen, stretched and meditated a little, journaled, watched youtube videos on compost and growing a productive veggie garden in the desert, then surfed around on reddit for a bit.
I'm about to go make some juice and maybe fry up some eggs and bacon for breakfast, I don't like my kitchen being clean for too long

I started developing some RLS a few months ago. Just feeling like you gotta jump outta your fuckin bed when you're trying to lay down to go to sleep. Like I needed to flail my legs around, like you have to move.
I always thought it was bullshit, just an excuse to call bouncing your leg up and down something during dinner. It is truly miserable, especially when it starts affecting your sleep. I had no idea.
after a week of hoping it would go away on its own I picked up a bottle of iron supplements from walgreens. About the same time I started working out. I think oxygenating my body and getting moving, expending energy, probably helped more than the iron did. Then again I cant definitively say.
Start swinging around a kettlebell. I haven't felt this good in a long time. Those little iron tabs are puny and you only need one a day. I haven't taken them in a few weeks and I've been sleeping normally again.
Can't swear by that kettlebell enough, just get a 35lb and get some oxygen in your brain, really work your legs out.

"I know you are very ill. Like a good Zen student, you are facing that sickness squarely. You may not know exactly who is suffering, but question yourself: What is the essence of this mind? Think only of this. You will need no more. Covet nothing. Your end which is endless is as a snowflake dissolving in the pure air."

Yeah man, regular exercise will fix so many things. My pops had restless legs and never touched a opiod recreationally. Different mentality, time off work was cocktails newspaper and dinner, doctors and science would find the cure or silver bullet pill. 1942-2017 RIP

fleabag I actually just started taking iron for mine today. Funny coincidence aha. Previously taking iron in multivitamins would make me sick but I feel ok... IDK about my legs yet. Have been doing more exercise lately too beforehand but it didn't seem to make a difference at all.

Yea I've been trying to use a supercomputing cluster for this stuff, but a few of the sims don't work on the cluster for whatever reason

What is your work laptop. If windows or linux you could be running on a virtual instance on network with more resilancy

Unfortunately my company keeps our work laptops tightly locked down. It took months for me to get access to the HPC cluster, I'm not even allowed to install software myself.
It's fine, I get paid R&D salary to babysit simulations this month.
