Movies to watch while tripping * 2
    #849493 - 09/17/21 10:46 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

What is a good recommendation/ list of movies you have seen or would want to watch while tripping?

If you've never tripped and watched a movie , I'd definitely recommend to do it atleast once , the way you follow the storyline and the way you can watch the movie thru a filter you otherwise wouldn't be

Hidden meanings, symbolic cinematic moments, clarity and kewlness...

Here are some of the movies I've watched while tripping and I recommend you try the same :awesomenod:

Little Miss Sunshine- epic story ... great writing and captivating ending

The Truman Show - again an epic and captivating story moments thruout this film you will experience so many emotions its insane o.O

Evil Dead 2 - amazing work of horror , great molding skills and stop animation 👌
Very good while tripping

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas , was made to watch while tripping their bedroom in  the hotel always has constant flickering ab flashing lights in the background aswell as most of the rest of the movie let alone the writing:lol:

The Labyrinth w David Bowie , another great one with amazing backdrops an story

The Yellow Submarine from the 1960s cartoon is sick af it has that old school 60s/counterculture acid style art throughout the whole movie

First season of Westworld - all about consciousness,  what more is there to say!?

There is definitely more to this list that I can't remember currently and will update if I remember at any given moment

Stranger Things (not a movie, but neither is Westworld)

The Fountain

Monsters Inc.(trust me, best LSD movie I've ever experienced)

I'll think about it some more and get back to ya.

Yeah Fear & Loathing is my all-time favorite. To this day, after seeing it literally countless times, it is still an amazing ride and experience watching that under the influence.

Other classics for me would be:

Coraline

Dark City

The Tree of Life (it's deep and profound but it is truly an experience directed by one of the all-time greats in Terence Malick)

Enter the Void (strictly for the unbelievable visuals, the movie itself is very disturbing)

Samsara

Baraka

Here's a few trippy series:

Maniac on Netflix (with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill)

Devs (Hulu)

The third season of Goliath (amazon prime) with Billy Bob Thornton. The season basically revolves around psychedelics and the main character himself gets unknowningly dosed several times throughout the season

I know I'm missing some but these are some of my absolute favorites that I can name off the top of my head

Some great ones up there ^^^^^

Watched
---------------

Tree of life- i watched while high of opiates whilst recovering from a surgery. It was awesome. So dreamy. The movie and drug combo was perfect.

Life in a day- this one was a surprise, its so simple, real life, montage all shot on same day. Still on opiates.

Avoid
----------------

The cube- i would avoid this one. Its old and stupid. I remeber hating it but had to endure watching it at a friends house in the late nineties, stoned, just thinking to myself how im never getting this time back. Not a fan.

Most music videos for me are really hard to watch on mushrooms. At least the ones i watched were just so weird and disorienting i just ruled them all out.

Older
-------------------------

Pulp fiction made no sense first time i watched it high. By the time it got to the end i had forgotten the start so watched it again.

Austin powers was funnny on mushroom.

Even older
----------///-------//----

Wicker man. The original with i think it was steve mcqueen? Goes to an island where a cult is happening and spoiler alert: ends up being burnt alive in a giant straw man.

Any horor movie by director Dario argento. Always watched while high, always about serial killers, always made no sense, always had to re watch next day while sober to fill in the blanks. They are old school horrors but have an authentic/artsy feel.

Just found this trailer for one i havent seen.

@Samething oh man, cube is AMAZING on dissociatives! The whole trilogy!
Haven't seen any of them on psychedelics yet but I imagine I'd like them just the same, probably because of the play on the other trippy memories though

I still got the Coraline 3D blu-ray in my closet. I've popped it in many a time on a trip

And yeah I think I may know exactly what scene in Samsara you're talking about

That's a great word for Tree of Life -- dreamy. It's very dream like. Surreal. At times it's almost like diving into someone's mind and looking through a collection of their memories, too. When I first saw it, I didn't see it as a movie like I do most traditional films. It felt more like an experience.

Learning to love life by living through loss and mistakes
Lessons learned then gradually surfacing, Letting go, stripping naked to scream
I am not perfect nor do I strive to be, I am alive in this world of face first falls and public breakdowns
I'm a retarded, disfigured clown
Dying to be heard through the simple art of letting this heavy wall finally fall
I'm an equal being of no race, or color, a hallucination if you will
Sneaking into the lives of strangers, and letting them fall apart to a new rhythm just to feel better
