Indica and Sativa edibles?
    #847943 - 05/13/21 02:19 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

We all know about the different effects these two strains produce.

Does eating them convert them to a compound with Sativa-like or Indica-like effects

... or is 11-hydroxy-THC pretty much the same regardless of the strain?

Just checked the legal edibles here in BC and they have four choices Sativa, Indica, hybrid and high CBD. I guess i will have to do some research.

Going theory is that the difference in effects is due to the difference in cannabinoid profile. For instance, Sativa tends to have very little CBD relative to the THC content, as where Indica tends to have a bit higher CBD:THC ratio.

While there is some limited evidence that small amounts (less than 1%) of ingested CBD is converted into delta-9 and delta-8 THC, the majority is converted into metabolites that are distinctly different form the metabolites of THC (e.g. 7-OH-CBD vs 11-OH-THC). These CBD metabolites have not been studied thoroughly, but preliminary studies suggest similar characteristics to CBD, much like 11-OH-THC has similar effects as THC.

So my guess would be that edibles made from sativas or indicas with significantly different effect profiles when smoking/vaping, would probably have different effect profiles when consumed as edibles.

Hope this helps :pipesmoke:

I think there are over 500 cannabinoids.  I ask people what kind of effect they want and then custom tailor their ganja experience to their every whim.

When you smoke with me, you know it is because I ate all the edibles.
