What's the best way to get rid of a few gnats flying around a small hobby tent?

Sticky traps for the adults, nematodes for the larvae. For a less organic approach, you could also use a bt product such as spinosad, though it would mean that trace amounts of the bt toxin would end up in your weed.
You can also use physical means to make it harder for them to lay eggs. I've heard of people putting layers of sand on top of their soil for that purpose.
It would also help to reduce their food source. For example, if you're top-dressing malted barley powder, you should quit doing so until the problem is resolved.
One more trap that works for the adults is a mixture of apple cider vinegar and warm water, with a drop of soap. You can add a bit of honey if you want to as well.

Diatomaceous earth is what I wound up using and it worked amazingly well top dressed and also spread on tent floor.

Just water with BT. I've even used azamax in the water to get rid of bad infestation.

I tried everything back in the day. Spinosad, D. Earth, nematodes, lady bugs, sand, Azamax, mosquito dunks, sticky traps all over...I know there are more I'm forgetting. I slowed them down a few times but could never completely get rid of them. Then I switched to coco, they all died and never came back. I refuse to grow in soil now for the sole reason of fungus gnats and the horrible experience I had with them.
