I'm from the southeast, our politicians still think about Reefer Madness when discussing cannabis...so idk much about the quality of legal weed.
I will say that smoking has become less fun over the years. I think the increase in responsibilities in life, and my career changing the make up of my social circle that includes less people who are open-minded about these sorts of things has just made the act of smoking so much more risky to my entire life. My wife has experienced the same issue.
It's shitty to think about, but life is a bitch sometimes. Plus I think it gets fun again later in life, so there's that to look forward to
