Trouble with germination

Hey, quick question. Have a Diesel auto seed that I wanted to germinate with the paper towel technique. Placed it between some plates for a few days. After a couple days of nothing I thought it might be too cold since room temp was around 17-19C on average so placed the plates on top of my cable box for some light heat. I did not check it every day and found the paper towel had dried a few times, my bad. Anyway, it's been about 2 weeks and nothing when I know most of my seeds germinate within a couple of days.
Did I kill it or is there still hope? Have a couple more seeds going on but this is the only auto I had so if possible i'd like to bring it back. Ideas?

I'd soak it for 12 hours in aloe water then put it in the paper towel again. If it doesn't pop in the next 3 days, call it a dud and move on. Sucks you only had one seed.
For germination I usually do the 12 hour soak, then plant into peat pellets. Last time I had one that didn't pop, so I dug it out and did the soak again and paper toweled it. It popped the next day.

Yeah, I soaked it for a while then I just put it straight in soil on another pot I have another seedling going on. If it pops out I'll transplant it. It was the only auto but have some Jack Herer seeds that did germinate so that's what I'll be focusing on.

I am nobodys expert but for me i have much preferred a overnight to 24-hr soak then paper towels THEN planting to sticking them in dirt then second-guessing myself, excavating, etc. if nothing pops after like 3 days...

I recently germed eight 5+ year old seeds using the paper towel method but placed in a ziplock to prevent it from drying out. This is the only way I have ever germinated and I have never had a single failure. I know this doesn't help you now, but may want to consider that method in the future.
