Once cannabis is legal, don’t expect Canada's ‘grey market’ to vanish
https://www.thestar.com/news/cannabis/2018/09/07/with-cannabis-legalization-dont-expect-the-grey-market-to-roll-over.html
Quote:
On paper, it all seems perfectly simple: five weeks from now Canada will flip a cataclysmic switch. And just like that, cannabis will be legal.
Goodbye, century of marijuana prohibition. Farewell, black market. Hello officer, put that badge away and sit for a while. There’s no crime here. Not anymore.
But as the government well knows, what’s written on paper won’t add up to anything nearly so blissful. Though Oct. 17 looms as a cultural and legal sea change, cannabis will not shed its stigma overnight.
As the new law takes hold, few expect the vast black and grey markets that carried Canadian cannabis to this moment to vanish like so many puffs of smoke, surrendering lock, stock and barrel to Bay Street’s new publicly traded titans of factory-scale production.
The day weed becomes legal, activists and cannabis law experts say, marks the start of a prolonged, uncertain and potentially ugly battle for the shape and soul of the industry that emerges from the regulatory haze.

SAJLMFAO who the fuck believed cannabis legalization was just about stopping the black market or getting cannabis out of the hands of kids? Its about freedom of choice to smoke cannabis but you can't come out and say the truth so a smoke screen was needed.
Great propaganda is a double edged sword Narcs claim we can't legalize cannabis because of the harm it causes kids, so lets claim that legalization will stop kids from using cannabis or at least reduce the harm. As far as the black market for cannabis goes just look at the end of alcohol prohibition and how long it took for that black market to fad away. History repeats.
On Oct 17 2018 I will no longer have to fear going to jail for what I've been doing since 1988 smoking and growing cannabis! The fight is not over for cannabis users anymore then it is for any minority but the battle field just got a hell of a lot more even!
