Quote:
OTTAWA -- Opposition parties and legal experts are urging the Liberal government to be clear on how it plans to handle the legalization of cannabis while Canada remains party to three UN treaties that control and criminalize drug access, noting failure to provide clarity soon could cause confusion on the world stage. Canada needed to give notice on July 1 if it intended to withdraw from the treaties and stick to its plan to legalize marijuana by this time next year, said Steven Hoffman, a York University professor who specializes in global health law. It didn't, and Hoffman said he is concerned about the message this sends.
reminder snipped
ROLMFAO All three treaties with the UN on legalizing cannabis were broken in 1999 when Canada legalized medicinal cannabis. 18 years ago!
Sadly this exposes just how moronic conservatives are when it comes to rule of law.

Lol its a good message! Lower all the bad things and increase good things like research and families and lives not ruined for a bag of pot. Bad things being organised crime chemicals on weed etc help albeit hard to keep away from kids. Lol guess all just good things but help stop negative stuff more then keeping it illegal.
So message is as a progressive nation improving lives of millions of people for many different reasons. So hopefully world will follow.

Ya when george w went against them nothing happenes and he murdered people.
It was the states who started all the bs forcing the world to criminalize all drugs to keep money flowing to departments and allow cia to make more money selling drugs.
Anyway ya treaty isnt much of a concern as its for the betterment of the nation. its about being leaders of the world now that the states has lost/loosing its position china and canada seem to be stepping in. Especially since trump lost all bargening power with pacific partners canceling the deal
