How to make a plant bud early outdoors
    #817636 - 08/02/16 12:10 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

My plant is almost 3 feet tall but here it will have another month atleast of veg and I don't want this, it is in the ground and im not risking destroying the roots so don't tell me to bring it in or anything. Can I just cover it with a tarp or something? Im a first time grower and have no experience. But one thing, how do I get the right 12/12 hours? Thanks

its called light deprivation, you'll need to put a black out tarp over it in the evening and remove it in the morning so that your plants "day" is more like 12 hours. Eventually you'll be able to stop once the light cycle reaches that naturally.

How will the air circulate through a tarp? Won't it suffocate? And I have one of those big blue tarp, would this do it?

Well then your shit out of luck. Leaving the tarp open for airflow will result in a Hermie plant guaranteed.

You only need a few hours at most of covering, right before sundown cover it, right after uncover and let the morning start the light cycle.

you need the plant completely blacked out, blue tarp will probably let too much light through.

The tarp wouldn't need to be sealed completely at the bottom

Only enough to block most of the light

I'm entirely unfamiliar with blacking out. I imagine the tarp isn't completely black but it simply reduces lumen levels to the point where the plants do not photostnthesize...

It doesn't have to be a sealed box blocking out all lighy. It needs to stop plants from photosynthesis basically.

Try allowing some fresh air exchange at the bottom of the tarp if u can or get a nice fan or three

Terrible advice.  ANY amount of light leaking in during the dark period is sure to turn your plant into Jamie Lee Curtis.

Lmoa...

Duh thanks for pointing out the OBVIOUS LMAO

my point was u could allow some air exchange genius

Cause OP expressed a concern about a completely sealed box

Thanks captain obvious but in reality u are the one with terrible advice here.

Any amount of light won't stress them out and pop balls. It needs to be darker than a full moon night...

There are plenty posts here about light leaks and the outcomes. The outcomes do not coincide with your advice either chief fluffy nugs.
