how small is the area? there are small space heaters, that or maybe you could use a heating mat and turn off the fans at night?

hey chemical addiction good to hear from you .
the bin is about a 3' x 1.5' x 1.5' tall and its about 60 km into remote wilderness so there is really no power source to plug into there,

btw i did end up getting my small cab going ,alot smaller then the other room i started the journal with and had to take down .. but im gonna get that journal going once the out door project is in place .

would a camp fire draw attention?  maybe you could put coals around the box, that would help for a while  I just tried looking up battery powered heating strips, like you would use on water pipes but battery powered. anyways I saw battery powered scarves on amazon those might work if you wrap around the plant.

You could fill a few plastic water jugs with plain water, paint them flat black, and put them around the basender of the plant where they will get the most sun.

Then, place a large clear plastic trash bag over them that goes all the way to the ground. Use 3 or 4 long stakes to hold the bag off of the leaves (if a few touch, that's fine). The jugs of water will heat up during the day and release their stored heat at night, and the plastic bag will keep help trap heat from the water jugs and ground, and prevent radiant heat loss to the sky (which is the primary reason plants die at near-freezing airntemps, they actually radiate heat to space and drop below freezing).

If you only have 24 hours or so, then ditch the jugs of water, as you are more likely to gas your plants with paint fumes. Any black container will do, but if nothing else, just do the plastic bags. I've saved a bunch of garden plants this way, and with the water jugs I've saved them in below-freezing conditions.

I think he means 4-5oC, about 40oF.

If that's not the case, then nothing short of a box of handwarmers and a large Styrofoam cooler will save your plants out there.

I doubt you need a heat source for a cold night or 2.  I think u just need to cover them.

We used to cover our plants late in the fall to avoid the frost killin em overnight

Dont use heat out doors heat stress will kill a plant b4 cold will if ur plants are big enough u dont have to cover them or worry about them at all how old/big are they if they are young and small then u need to cover but if they are big like 3ft + i wouldnt worry about shit just make shure u water it late when it gets cold with water and covering u can save any plant from frost. With fruit farms when theres a possible frost they have a misting/spray system to constantly spray water on the plants making it so frost cannot take hold look up for urself but just a simple sheet or bucket of warm water with some veg feed in it to the roots late b4 u go to sleep tht night and again in the morning should do it but if they are seedlings then they might stunt out so hopefully not real young plants and at least small teens.

If my chick wants to warm up she'll hold a convo with me. The heat makes her moist too.

Talk to your plants?
