 Does a vaporizer do damage to your lungs?

Yo potheads
Since a few weeks i bought a vaporizer and i'm really happy with it 
But some of my friends keep saying this shit still produces tar and carbon monoxide which is very bad for your lungs.
I keep them telling all the time that that is impossible because tar and carbon monoxide only arise when something is burning.
But my question to you guys. Can it be that a vaporizer is still doing some damage to your lungs or is this kind of technology really the perfect healthy alternative for smoking herb?

Edibles if you're that scared
Two points though
1.not all smoke is equal. (Inhaling ganja vs. Burning plastic)
2. Vapor isn't smoke (had a better one, but forgot)

Do damage to your lungs? That's way too broad of a question. I mean like compared to what? Blunts? Probably not. Not inhaling anything foriegn at all ever? Yeah. Compared to Chinese smog? ???
Not enough info. Just accept getting high is probably gonna damage your lungs a little without resorting to edibles or don't get high, ya know?
I've been smoking buds for 11 years now, pretty heavily for the last 8 years, and I don't really notice shit wrong with my lungs. I'm not sure how they'd compare to a non-smoker, but I don't cough shit up or get extra infections or anything. Never smoked cigarettes.

I've had my volcano for five years and quit smoking ciggs 7 years ago almost and I'm healthy as fuck(respiratory wise,my joints ache). If I had to give a longtime users experience of vaping flower I'd say that it does not harm your lungs, and yes, tar and co are only produced upon igniting\burning.
My exp couple with the known fact that cannabis is an expectorant makes me believe that if anything; due to the coughing and clearing out of unwanted lung mucous, which undeniably happens, that cannabis(when vaporized( is actually benificail for your lungs. Coughing isn't bad always and I'd surmise that smoking a bong is similarly healthy
Almost no tar and water filtered..

weed has more tar supposedly but it isn't radio active
vapor condenses to liquid so it might not be a good idea to vape all day cuz then you got liquid on your lungs
one time my throat was a little swollen from using the hose too long and I was sucking in air, it wasn't that bad but you gotta stop cuz it gives you panic attacks and your hands start cramping and you gotta smoke a cig or call a taxi to get help
