Windows 10 FAIL

I just had Windows 10 fail to boot and thought I'd share my experience with the smoke lounge so that as many people as possible on this site can see this.
So, I went to boot my computer this morning and it began to blue screen. I received a "Critical Service Failed" error message.
The various fixes found for this issue online failed to work. I even attempted to reset the installation via the recovery menu, which also failed.
At this point I decided to attempt a clean install by utilizing a USB flash drive that I had used with the Windows media creation tool to create a bootable Windows 10 device.
I watched with disbelief as my computer failed to boot from the drive.
Microsoft has failed completely on this. My mother's laptop also had to be reset for a similar issue.
Thusly, if you value your current configuration, DO NOT upgrade to Windows 10. It's a buggy, terrible mess.
I'm going to stick with 7 64-bit for now and hope I'm not forced to upgrade any time soon.

I'm sure they'll fix all of the bugs, eventually.
But for right now, it's bad news.
I make sure to perform backups, so I didn't lose much.

Word on the street is if you buy a computer that has Windows 10 you'll be fine, it's when you try to upgrade on a computer that didn't have Windows 10 it's nothing but a shit storm. Seems to be the consensus. So if your computer isn't origionally equipped with Windows 10 it falls into the, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category..

Well my experience proves that to be false as my mother's laptop came with the OS pre-installed.
She also had issues when booting her machine.

She bought an acer laptop which I yelled at her about.
She was out of state when it happened, and I had no idea it was happening, haha.
Anyway, she was going straight to startup repair after booting, and the automatic recovery failed. She didn't have any restore points or important data on there, so I reset her Windows installation. It was successful.
She still has an issue where the machine will power on, display the splash screen, and then power off. This happens with full battery and with the charger connected or disconnected. The battery is not removable. Sometimes the laptop boots fine, however.
I told her to contact acer on that one, thinking it was a mobo issue. But with Windows 10, who knows?
My build is custom:
Gigabyte Mobo i5-2500K @ 3.7 Ghz CPU 16 GB RAM Corsair Vengeance series @ 1600 Mhz EVGA NVidia GTX 550 Video Card 620 Watt Antec Gaming PSU
I had Windows 7 Pro x64 installed for almost 5 years with no major issues.
I had Windows 10 installed for a month or two before it crashed my PC.

I don't get why you would be doing that to a new computer. You sure you two were the first ones to lay hands on that computer?

Yes, only the two of us. And she had the laptop for a couple of months before I saw it. So, I assume she was the primary user.
I just used the GWX Control Panel to remove the Windows 10 upgrade icon in the system tray.
I'm sticking with Windows 8 and 7 for now.
I'm going to finish installing everything this week on my primary box and will be updating my old box as well, including resolving some hardware issues that it has. I'll also be making a couple of new images to wrap things up.
I'm at like Defcon 1 right now. This is some srs shit.

Yeah I keep getting pop ups from the toolbar begging me to upgrade to Windows 10; kind of annoying really. And in all honesty Windows 7 works pretty good so I've never really seen a need to upgrade.
On top of that I kind of feel like when it comes to computers with pre-installed OS it's better to just stick with the original OS; installing new versions etc seem to lead to various errors and failures and inevitably system crashes.
I do need to get a new computer soon though; this fucker is over 4 years old and has already had a few major crashes and system recoveries.

Upgrade you're OS for more intrusive advertising and propaganda, while simultaneously making you're p.c. not backwards compatible so it's easier for microdork to spy on you. Windows 10 You!:bettercallsaul:

Not sure what youre rambling on about there, mof, but fuck 10. I looked into upgrading, but after reading the 100000000s of bad reviews i decided to stay with 7.
Moonshoe, we have simular builds except for the cpu. I have an i3.

dear god this problem. seriously, I have to fix at least one of these a day. The pain for you is that it is a custom build, so you have less options to get it to boot if it crashes. I had heard that the upcoming service pack should unfuck the installation process.
The problem you might be having with the thumb stick is it has to be set up as a UEFI bootable drive. I believe microsoft has a free utility that you can download, as well as the associated windows 10 file.
Honestly, after switching to 10, I can't go back to 7. Especially on my custom rig. You just need to spend a little time with it to get it set up to your liking. I don't like 8 at all. It can suck a homeless guy's dick.

That was actually my fault; I had formatted the drive a while ago and had forgotten about it.
So I can't blame Microsoft for that one!
I'll adopt Win 10 in a couple of years when I build a new PC for myself.
But for now, I'm sticking with 7.

Ya, wait until after reviews for the service pack come out. It's a good OS, it just needs some polish. Ubuntu is a reasonable alternative except gaming compatibility is reduced. Great for indie games though.

I tried linux for a bit, but 7 is just... Easy. Still works great too. I hope microsoft doesnt force us to upgrade which im sure they will eventually.
