1000w hps indoor grow in soilless mix (bag seed)

The seeds for this grow were from a bag of commercial mids. I have a digital ballast that has a variable output at 50, 75, and 100 percent. The seeds were germinated in jiffy pellets inside a mini greenhouse. They were transplanted into small containers on day 5. I believe I had a light issue or a chlorine issue around day ten. I moved my light form 18 inches to 20 and stopped watering with water straight from the tap. I'm now phing the water I use to 6.5. day 22 I transplanted to larger 5 gallon containers, noticing how stunted my plants were due to the small space for their roots. I also tried to top(fim) my plants but missed a little bit too much on 4 of them so I basically set those 4 back about a week. In the future I plan to transplant seedlings straight into the 5 gallon buckets rather than the Styrofoam cups. Anyhow, I'm using 50% of the output on my hps bulb(500 w), and my 5 plants are getting 18hrs of light. The first two weeks were 24 hrs light. here are pics of the garden
More pics to come. I feel like I still have a while before I get my shit together so this isn't a how to or anything like that. Say a few prayers to the bud gods for me. I forgot to mention I'm using a cool tube for my light. I have a carbon filter and an inline fan exhausting the heat from my grow room. I also have a de-ionizer I run during the light cycle. Smell is a big concern for me. laptop is dying. I'll be back with more when I can

Could take up to two weeks before they show sex. Just be patient.

If it's bag seed, I'd assume they're more than likely female seeds. looking good!

I thought they had to be a certain age, like 6 weeks or something if they came from seed/weren't cuttings, before you could flower them.
What are the red and blue things in the clay and ceramic pots, some kind of cactus?

You mean herms? That means you stressed them. The ladies like room to drop a tap root, deep, 6 inches. They like to be pampered. Males just have to toss pollen in the wind, they can live in rocks. Females have to stay planted and make all those flowers, and resin, and all that good stuff. They want pickles and ice cream, they're hungry.

Well that and "bagseed" .. the reason seeds could have got there in the first place may have been herm pollen for all we know... Unknown is unknown. Plus, yeah you need at least some root development before flipping the lights back.
Dude, hang a couple of shop lights even and get the veg thing going on... Most of my tiny baby section is clones so I run 24hr light. works great...

This is a limited time and space grow. Hopefully after the harvest I can find a better location and start with good genetics. I'm happy with whatever smoke I get. I should save some money not paying street price for bud. I'm pretty sure the hermaphrodism is genetic as well as stress induced. It is my understanding that most commercial land race bud has herm tendencies. I think DJ Short said something like that. Does anyone think differently?

BTW I'm seeing nice pisti development with few stamens on 3 of 4 remaining plants.the busiest one has the best smell and structure. I've also been tying plants down for low stress training and some supercropping to bush these bitch out. The tallest plant snapped when I tied it down last week and wouldn't mend. Now the canopy is more even but that was quite a hit to take. It's lights out right now but I'll show more pics tomorrow
