 Outdoor grow questions...

Hey guys, this is going to be my second grow, I had a very successful outdoor grow with 2 plants last year so I'm growing again with mostly the same method but a few more plants.
Last time round, I dug a round hole for each plant, about 70cm across and 50cm deep and about 90cm apart. I was wondering if it is possible/advised/not advised to dig one big rectangular pit and plant a few plants in it, rather than separate holes? And if so, how far apart should they be planted?
I'm growing >95% Sativa plants in northern Victoria if that changes anything...

I recommend separate holes for each, spaced a few feet apart.
The deeper you till the soil, the better...

Yeah winter is definitely not coming where I am. It's just starting to heat up here, between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius most days now with lots of sun 
And thanks for the response, I'll go for separate holes for each plant

Ahh, I was thinking Victoria Canada... But then again, I guess I wouldn't really need to warn a Canadian about that sorta thing now would I?
