I'm running a 400 watt hps with no dark cycle on some seedlings. they are up to about 3-4 nodes. I'm getting leathery leaves and brown/yellow spots. I will post pics soon. the light was just over 18 inches away but today I moved it to 20. Thinking it's the light or the chlorine form my tap water. I haven't fed them yet so I don't think its a nutrient issue. Help

Keep the light about two feet away for the time being.
What kind of soil are you using? Are you checking the pH of your water?

Just phed the water I'll use for the next watering. I'm using miracle grow pro mix for these small containers. I've smoked great weed grown in pro mix before. Any suggestions on soil? The water I'll use next time is about 6.7 ph. is that too high? my normal tap water is about 8ph. I have a general hydroponic ph up and down kit with a bottle of test drops. I also plan to feed with the Fox Farm Dirty dozen as needed. A friend of mine told me that if I start growing autos I wont have to feed them anything if I use pro mix except a little Epsom salt in water if they get a magnesium deficiency. this project is from bag seed and I don't expect to be that impressed. anyone care to suggest a good autoflowering strain for me to start with?

Soil is prob too hot...ph probleme rarely happen in soil grows, except to cause lock out and you haven't gotten far enough for that to happen yet. I'd assume that soil is burning your plants and is too hot for your seedlings. Start in more mellow soil..
Cheers
