Big Bear's 2000w Indoor Soil Log

Welp fine folks of the growery, I decided to finally make a grow log. I posted a few weeks back on here with some concerns about keeping my growing environment cool which since seem to be resolved.
So without further adieu, here it is.
Flower: I have a 4'x8' "secret jardin" grow tent that has 2 1000w lights in it. I am using dominator hoods and xtrasun digital ballasts. I got whatever hps bulbs were on sale at the grow store. I can't remember their name. The tent is equipped with a 10inch fan that pulls for intake from outside and exhausts in to a carbon filter. The lights are ducted and air is pushed out of them by an 8" inline fan. The tent is doing okay temperature wise now since the lights run at night and the air outside is usually 50-60 degrees. My tent hovers at 70-85 degrees most nights. During the day time I run a 14000 BTU AC to keep my apartment from heating up way too hot (no AC in here) and to help keep the veg tent temperatures down. I have 12 plants in 7 gallon pots. I believe 6 a light to be the perfect number for my setup. I have a bunch of diesels, some tangie, and a couple kushes IIRC.
Veg: My veg tent is a 4x4 with a T5 in it. I keep one 6" inline fan blowing air in and moving it around. It says on 24/7. I have a little cloner in there now too but I just killed my last batch so it looks like I have to buy plants again next round The water got too hot.
Water: I use a tall boy filter and PH up/down when I feed.
Nutes: House and Garden's line was ultimately what I went with because I got gifted a decent amount of it. Their soil line doesn't work very well with super light soils from what I've heard. I use a soil called Tupur because it is well reviewed and also fuck mixing soil in my little 1br apt.
So here are some pics
This is the setup. You can see the big 4x8 tent exhaust fan and carbon filter. The AC is the big grey box. The Veg tent is open and you can kind of see the flap that's unzipped to the left.
Here are the clones that I accidentally burnt to shit and almost killed. I had a real hard time getting my environment dialed in at my place because temp swings are so crazy, but it's finally under control
A couple weeks after transplanting
Right after they were moved to the flower tent. They were vegged for another week and a half under the HPS after they were moved over.
And here we are now, halfway through the second week of flower.
I guess I'll finish this later. Until then good luck growin everyone

at this point in flowering I am feeding every watering. The soil I am using (Tupur) is very light, and designed for drip feed systems. I am hoping in a few grows to convert to one.

I grow 12 in a 4x8 space and would personally grow 6 in a 4x4 tent. That's 5x5 so I really might would do 8. Also fuck the 600 get a 1000 watter. Use a MH bulb for vegging and hps for flowering, or get another smaller space and throw a cloner and mothers in there and just use the 5x5 space for bimonthly harvests.
Just my $0.02

Also if you are running a light like that keep in mind you really need to duct out the heat. I highly suggest getting at least one inline fan. You will need an RO filter too. And a fan in the actual tent for air movement and probably another one for exhaust hooked to a carbon filter.
There are lots of ways to grow weed but an RO filter is pretty much imperative imo. Nutes and PH are really fucking important, so make sure to cough up the change to do it right.
If I was running that setup Id duct my lights out of a window or something somewhere, then run another fan as an exhaust hooked on a carbon filter. The intake Id make passive from inside unless of course I didn't have AC, then I'd duct in from the outside and run my lights at night.
It's not much different from cubes man, just meet the plants needs and dial in the environment

My buddy's an electrician so I'm having him re-fit my basement for me so I have a designated grow space.

Yeah I run both of them on different 15amp 120v circuit. Between the fans and everything else, my circuits are pretty much at maximum capacity. If I had any more lights Id have to run them off of my 50amp 240v stove circuit.
Unless your house has a 100amp service you should be good for most practical sized home grows without a service upgrade. Even with a 100 amp service you might have enough to do what you need. All that would be required is adding circuits if you have space in your panel, or adding a new sub panel if your panel is full.

Yeah,
Gonna add 3 40 amp 240v circuits and give them their own designated plugs. 1 for two lights and another for my other shit and a third for my pumps and air.
Overkill, I know, but I'd rather do that and be able to add later. Doing a basement grow and it's right next to the panel so it'll be cheap and easy.

well most of the stuff you use for growing excluding lights and maybe AC (depending on kind) runs on 120v and not on 240v, so you might not want to add all those if you are just planning on running two lights.

Yeah but if you are planning to run 4-8 lights down there you will probably need an AC, which will most likely run on 240v. You need to figure out what the maximum amount of lights you can/will do down there then do the math

Two 1000w, I highly doubt I will upgrade from there unless I really feel secure and am making bank. There are also titan controllers that plug into one 240v and can control up to 8 lights for 200 bucks, not a bad deal.
Also growing in the basement where it's cool as shit, I may need a heater before an A/C but we'll def see, gonna have to dial in those surroundings.
After two 1000w what is there? 3? 4? I can't even imagine

What's your temp difference night and day?
I still have about a month before I move in. Thanks to your help I'll do one 240v for the ballasts and two more 120vs for everything else. Also have to pick up a 240v timer too to make shit easier.

Swings. This whole month has been fucked. It's usually 70-90 in daytime and 40-60 at night but we had a random cold front come through and lots of rain. It's been difficult keeping shit constant for me, and my plants are suffering because of it. I've picked a decent amount of male flowers and I suspect more are herm-Ing that I can't see yet. The buds will still look good, it's just disappointing that I couldn't meet their needs. I'm back at ground 0 on the house again, because this one had a strict no growing clause in the lease, so I gotta find something else :/

The other house came through. Looks like I am going to be in a 3br with two rooms occupied and as many lights as I can fit in the master. I'll veg in a tent out in the living room. The landlord is 100% cool with growing. Hopefully my next log will be with a couple more lights but we shall see.

Yeah the end game goal is to buy a tract of land and throw up some hoop houses for next season and then build a legit GH the next one, but that's a little too far away to worry about right now.
Can't wait to see you crushing it with your EB and grow buckets. Hopefully that lil 3+ pounds every two months helps with your castle too

Aight guys here is my final update (besides hopefully showing off some of the trimmed up nugs) and things are starting to come down. I won't be too long winded and will let the pics do the talkin
Here are some random shots of the tent. My 3 bubba diesels got cut down tho which is why it is a little empty looking:
And here are some nugget shots. Top to bottom is OG#1, OG#1 overhead view, "Diesel done right", and a tangie that still has another two weeks on her. Hoping the tangies frost up a little more before harvest but they still were really fat.
And finally some of my cut down Bubba Diesels, and my first nug ever harvested from an indoor grow I completely own. (also I don't have mutant troll hands it's just the angle is from above.
Thanks for following along guys.

Yeah they aren't bad but this was nowhere near what I originally was going for. They had to deal with some tough conditions that we couldn't control. Hopefully when I move to this grow house we don't have such a hard first harvest getting shit dialed in.

So explain to me what you need to dial in and how you go about doing it.
For instance, do you have to fuck around with dehumidifiers and/or humidifiers for veg and flower? You don't have an intake right (Thanks to negative pressure)? So do you just make your ambient outside colder to make the tent colder? Any other tips and tricks?
I'm counting the days until I'm in my place lol, just need to buy my nutes and rockwool and humidity dome and I'm good to go.

I pull in my air from outside but out here it's in the 50s-60s most nights so I haven't really had to worry about heat a whole lot except early on in the night. I have a 14k btu AC too that I will run if shit is really bad. Also, I don't have dehumidifiers as all my money went in to this grow. I got a little bitty bit of PM on my bubba diesels but thankfully it was at the very end and didn't have time to spread.
It's no different than an automated mushrooms setup concept though, just gotta get your conditions right and there are a million different ways to do it.
Don't worry too much just get your lights and get in the trenches and do the shit. You'll learn with time. They call it weed for a reason

Hey BB,
About how many 5 gallon pots could you fit in that 4x4? I'm thinking of returning the 4x4 and getting a 5x5 so I can run 8 DWC buckets when the time comes but if the 4x4 will hold 6-8 I should be fine for now.
First grow will def be 6 buckets though.

PM=powdery mildew
i could probably do 8 if i was really cramming them but honestly I'd probably just do 6 in smart pots and grow them the same size. There aint much difference in a 5 and 7 gal pot imo.

Total yield from the two lights was barely over 2lbs of nug but I have about 2 pounds of trim/larf to blast. All in all I guess it was a decent harvest but if I was to ever grow in the tent again I would definitely prune more. I guess my next log will be a 5 light log in the new place

When is the ideal time to change from veg to flowering? I know for flowering it's a 12/12 light/darkness schedule but what is it for veg?

depends on how big you want your plants, plants can get 2-3x bigger once switched over to flower so you have to know what you want.
you veg until the plant gets to a certain size then you put it into flower, there is no set time for veg like flowering. its a personal preference thing.
a 1 ft plant (depending on indica or sativa or hybrid) in veg can get 3-4' tall in flower..
most try to cycle their veg to fit the flower times so as they harvest they have plants ready to go right away.

there isnt one.. it all depends on how big you want the end result and how tall your lights/ceiling are..
if you want giant plants then you veg longer, if you want a short plant then you veg shorter, dont know how else to put it

It's all about trial and error and filling out your space. Hindsight is 20/20 but if I went back to apt growing I'd certainly do a sea of green, and flip 32 non topped plants in 1x1 squares, and flip at about 16 inches. You can grow a single tree and scrog it or do 16 small plants and flip It. The world is your oyster mushroom

Quite clearly you have no idea what you are doing if these pics have burnt tips in them trying to say anything stupid about my plants.

What are you even talking about? For starters, there is very little indication of phosphorous burn on those plants you quoted...maybe a tiny bit on the last picture, but its too blurry to clearly identify. Even if there is a bit there it doesnt hold a candle to the issue you are facing.
Secondly, these pictures are from 3 years ago, and I've grown literally thousands of plants between these ones and my last one. Just because I have experienced phosphorous burn before doesnt mean you aren't experiencing it now. It really shows your maturity level though, to come attack me in my thread because i gave you an answer you didnt like.
Let's play a game, why don't you point out the phosphorous burn on my plants, and I will point it out on yours. Yours is easy...

every single leaf where you see it is green, but the tip is yellow, is the start of P burn. It will work it's way down the outside of the leaves and they will all die.
Here's an example of where plants don't have phosphorous burn, because the tips are still green and healthy...
but go on attacking people trying to help you. its a great look

Thank you data for the edit. This thread brings back a lot of nostalgia and reminds me where it all began
