First post, couple qs
    #768487 - 02/06/15 09:50 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

Hi all, I decided to finally make a profile here, since I recently started a couple plants myself. I just had a couple questions about a plant I got as a clone, I dropped a light on it @ about 2 weeks in. It almost snapped the main stalk in half , but I taped it up, and it managed to heal ok I guess. This was 2 weeks ago, she pretty much looks the same, has grown a little bit, and the bottom leaves seem stunted and are turning yellowish. My question is: will it survive and flower? also, is there any treatment that might help recover better? Thanks for input. Here is some pics below, with my other plant that is same age for comparison.

sorry bout the shitty iphone 3 pics

not sure about how the broken stem will hold up in flower.

if your not in a hurry, you could clone her a few times and get a bunch of plants and grow those out

I'm in no hurry, I'm thinking I should chop it off at the break and try to root it as a new clone again. Can I make more than one with what I got there?

ya you should be able to get like at least 6 clones off her

My last grow i vegged 6 plants for months.... then turned 6 plants into like 30 clones and those all went into my OD grow last summer

I disagree.  That plant will be just fine to flower.  But you can take some clones off of it first.

The pictures are a bit blurry, but I suspect you have spider mites by the look of those lower leaves.

What kind of setup is this in?

Fert Nitty, I would follow hawk's advice over a layman's (me). Don't count my post for weight on deciding what to do next.

Im just in soil under 300W HPS in a 3x2x 5-tall closet. I haven't chopped it. I have however treated them for mites. and am doing a followup treatment today. I nuted them with  a 2-1-6 solution in water and they both perked up real nice, including the injured one. the next day I notice this on the larger plant

Major mite damage, and maybe some water damage

What he said^
Mites are scary for a weed grower man... its the equivalent of plant aids
You can win that war but its an uphill battle.
Flp a leaf over and take a look at what's going on. They reside on the bottoms

i thought they were fairly easy to take care of as long as you continue treatment?

bad mite problem. I woke up this morning for a second mite treatment ( the faq on here says to treat then retreat 6 days later) and one plant was completely infested. all leaves wilted and drooping and spierwebs throughout the top of the plant.. will she perk back up if i can get this under control. It is amazing how fast she went from perky to looking like shes about to croak!

Not to hijack, but what are (if any) some steps you can take to mitigate the risk of catching mites? My understanding is they most commonly come in on soil?

This is the thing:
Some of the common mites you'll encounter in your house naturally are on the easy side to eradicate.
There are, however, mites that go around the grow community that you absolutely don't want.
They eat cannabis like some kind of satan spawned nanobots.
Many folks who've been there felt:  " I wanted to burn my house down with my clothes inside it so I could grow somewhere else again"
Mites from another grower are adapted to handle various pesticides and will ravage your plants so fast it'll make your head spin with grief.
Never take a clone from another grower! ACCEPT NO GIFTS! (My 2cents)

Now for treatment:
Step 1) pay attention. Be looking under your leaves or at the least, know the telltale spotting look.
Step 2)
If you have them, ISOLATE THE VICTIMS!  The best chance you have is separating or even killing vivtimized plant hosts. IF you suspect an issue, its not a good time to pack your plants tightly, because that one in the back corner is where they'll ravage since they're good at hiding. Then from plant to plant they'll go, at which point, throw a grenade & run.
3) spray something:
IMO neem is a fail since it works on stopping reproduction only, as the adults ravage along and already born youngins grow. They say to spray neem every 3 days because "that's how long a mites reproductive cycle is"
I can tell you why that's not clever. Because when you have an infestation there are possibly hundreds of overlapping generations on what I'd guess would be on a matter of minutes, not days.
Go with something harsh and only in veg.

"AVID" is the strongest shit I've ever used. you can get its generic chemical compound cheaply.

Hot dry situations make them attack your plants as these conditions make them thirsty and they will leech water from your babies. killing them.
Although, these conditions make their presence apparent, they operate mainly at night. Its at night you'll want to spray. They don't enjoy heat or bright light, which is why they hide on the underside of the leaves mostly. They do not enjoy HPS lighting and you will naturally see them less there, and conversely, moreso under cool lighting like LED and others.  They seem to ravage under LED as if they can't see it and are doing their in the dark feast jam.

Your best bet is not getting them in the first place, or in the least, NOT THE ONES FROM ANOTHER GROWER.

Hope this helps.

Yup. mite attacks cause the plant to go into "I'm being attacked" mode. in which they generally bum. out and definitely start having nutrient uptake issues as well. just do what you can man.
Reduce lighting and feeding a touch till recovery is in effect
