First N.J. marijuana dispensary stung by labor dispute

Labor relations at New Jersey's first medical marijuana dispensary are going to pot.
Employees that grow and sell medical marijuana at the Compassionate Care Foundation facility outside Atlantic City filed unfair labor practices charges against the dispensary last month, Philly.com reports.
The majority of the 11 growers allege their employer has blocked their attempt to join a union and retaliated by lowering wages, the report says.
The workers earn between $12 and $25 at the dispensary in Egg Harbor Township, which sells marijuana strains such as Cherry Berry and Pineapple Chunk, according to the report.
Brian String, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 152, which represent 14,000 employees in South Jersey, told Philly.com the business used 'tricks' and reclassified workers to make the growers exempt from the Nation Labor Relations Act.
A hearing before the NLRA board is slated for March 16 in Philadelphia, the report says.
