Too bad the travel time to a lot of these planets far surpasses a human lifetime. That's always bummed me out- being born too late to explore earth and too early to explore the stars.

edit: I will have to say that the kind of dangers, disease, and death, commonplace in that era (esp as far as exploration is concerned) would probably fuck up my world had I been alive then. I can see that not meeting my expectations.
As for exploring the stars, that might be neat. Until I'm just stuck in a small box for months on end.
