I want to get as many buds/colas as i can but i don't want it to get 10 feet tall.
what should i do?
also, where do you bucket-people put your plant when the bucket needs to be cleaned without damaging the roots?

Is that soil in the top of your bucket?
It looks like your light is too far away, you need to move it closer so the plants will grow bushier. This will help keep them short. Just cut off the top, of the plant, and two tops will grow back. Do this once maybe twice before flowering and you'll have a lot of buds and your plants won't even be close to 10 ft. Tall. You also don't clean the bucket during the cycle. Some will add hydrogen peroxide to their watering mix to keep their buckets clean during the cycle. But if you clean them well before putting your plants in, they should be ok until the end of the cycle.

Supercrop the top. Pinch it down far enough where it will still bend but not break, maybe 16". Don't get your fingernail on it though, just squeeze it hard enough between thumb and finger until you can then bend it without kinking, or breaking. You can feel which way it will bend easiest after pinching. Lay it down on your metal screen and gently tie it off with twine. When it grows that pinched part will become your superhighway to success of a monster top. Why anyone would cut off their top, is beyond me. Ouch!!!!

Ummm what?
It's recommended to flush and clean every 7 t 14 days. Not everyone does but it is a good idea.
To the OP, when I did DWC I had extra buckets. So I could mix nutes in a clean bucket. Then I'd just move the plant to the new bucket, and dump and clean the other for the next week.

i'm not doing buckets, but with my ebb & flow I change out the water every week, I add bleach to the water reservoir then suck out all the water where the plants are.
I take a one gallon pump sprayer with dish soap and water to spray the algae off the roots, then I clean the tub they are in and flush everything with clean nute-less water before draining reservoir and add new water with nutrients.
As said above you just need another bucket to clean the one your using, but its good to spray the algae off the dangling roots as well

get that light closer and slap them bitch around ,they will work harder to please you ,top ,train !
i top my dwc plants 40 or 50 times each then when i have a bush i bend and work the branches down a drop a scrog net on em and lollipop em .
when i have single dwc units i just slide the net pot over to the side and use an electric pump then rinse and drain again being sure to give my stones and lines a cleaning to .
i have the 6'' lids so this works great ,with the larger net pot bucket tops im sure you would beable to jimmy that pump hose in under the bucket lids .

is it advisable to supercrop/crush the stem near the base?
it's kind of rigid already until about a foot up.
I would like to regain that foot of stiffness if i can.
I don't think i want to top off anything but rather fim the top & branches instead & scrog it all. think that would be a good plan?
sidenote, the plant is planted in coco/perlite 70/30.
will the roots anchor the plant down or should i find a way to anchor the stem?

Cmon, I give you DETAILED instructions on where to supercrop, how to do it, and you ask about doing it "near the base". NO, do it a little below like 2" below your screen, lay that bitch down on the top ring and tie her off.

calm down guy, you're being way too dramatic about this.
i wasn't looking for 'instructions' i was looking for 'suggestions'
notice the title of the thread, it says "what should i do with this thing", not "what do i do with this thing"
but anyway, back to the question at hand,
does anyone have experience supercropping where the stem has already gone rigid?
