Indie games
    #755371 - 10/31/14 03:04 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So I picked up a few indie games from the current steam sale.

-Transistor
-Mark of the Ninja
-Crypt of the NecroDancer
-Hotline Miami

So far I have only played Crypt of the NecroDancer, and I am hooked lol.  It kind of reminds me of The Binding of Isaac, but with it's own unique system that uses music rhythm for the actions.  It sounds really strange I'm sure but it is tons of fun.  Still in alpha build though.

Something about indie games appeal much more to me these days than AAA titles.  Could be that I was born in the early 80's and growing up playing NES/SNES.  I just feel that games are not as fun these days.  Of course there are some great games being released, but I tend to get bored with them quickly.

Anybody know of any others that you might suggest?

I'm not sure which ones are on steam, but I know of a few.

Botanicula is fucking amazing. Machinarium is too, not quite as good.

Fez, but the developer is a cunt.

Proteus is very trippy, but fucks up the boundaries of what you might call a "game".

Gone Home looked really good, haven't tried it.

The Stanley Parable also looked crazy good.

Brothers: Tale of Two Sons will make you cry.

Outlast was spooky as fuck.

That's all I can think of right now, but its only 9 AM and I'm pretty sleepy.

Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Some of those are on my list of ones I was interested in, so I will have to check them out.  All of the games I did pick up are pretty solid.
