 Fly Fish?

It is perfect weather where I am to get out and do some backpacking and fly fishing.
I fish with a Tenkara Rod for the last 4 years. Anyone have any experience with a no reel rod?

It took an extra push for me to try fly fishing but honestly I would never go back to any other type. The peacefulness that it provides is like no other. I will never find anything that calms me more than a good day on the stream even if it is an unsuccessful day.

I spent countless hours behind a flyrod in my youngin' days.
Tied a pile of flies too.
Found this old pic of a carp I caught
Tiny photo but you can see the size of the fish compared to me.
Was a hell of a fight on the fly rod.
That reel-less rod is super cool. How much do those run? Might have to grab one for backpacking.

That is a huge carp, I have never caught anything that big with a fly rod! Great catch!
Tenkara Rods
$157 for the standard 12ft Tenkara rod. Relatively cheap compared to a good western fly rod set up. Plus so lightweight and easy to pack and go quickly which is perfect for the North GA mountains. I can fish a spot for 5-10 mins then move along and fish another spot for 5-10mins with little or no packing time.

You didnt eat it eh? We get TONS of those here, its a throw back fish tho... they are bottom feeders

Actually we did one time. It wasn't bad. The taste was a little too gamey for fish, for me anyway.
It really doesn't matter if they are bottom feeders if its from a nice clean lake.
The flesh looked really nice and there was a lot of meat.
The Europeans love to eat carp.
