tire and balance question
    #752826 - 10/13/14 06:06 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

What would the effects be while driving if you had 3 new tires and one older close to bald and the bald being front driver side?

Put your best tires up front unless its rear wheel drive then put them in the rear,if its all wheel drive you should replace all tires at same time or it can fuck shit up, differentials or tranny. :cookiemonster:

That's dumb as shit. Get another new tire or don't put the new ones on at all. There is zero point in wearing 3 new tires unevenly.

I'm getting a new one tomorrow, but I had a blow out on one, another was fucked up when slamming on the brakes due to a :tard: and the other was replaced by the previous owner. The 3 are not all new new, but they were all replaced in the past 3-4 months.

Right now my steering wheel rocks left to right and right to left when driving. It also shakes a bit. I'm not sure if this is because of the one worn out tire up front or if its something else.

I'm also wondering if ill need an alignment as well or if replacing the tire is all that's needed.

Ah.. well that isn't so bad re: the tire wear.

Depending on the condition of the bad one it could be largely due to that.
Sizing of the tire as well.
It is likely a combo along with the alignment.
Its always a good idea to do it when changing tires.

Ha!  That shit cracked me up.

Op tires and alignment usually go hand in hand.  Maybe I read the thread wrong but why buy 3 new tires and...  thats like paying the doc for open heart surgery but you'll hit him up with the cash to sew you up down the road.  What kind of car man?  Honda civic?

In the next 2 months I need to replace the brake pads, replace the timing belt, an alignment, tranny flush, borrow money from draw, oil change, and maybe a radiator flush...

Damn, you should keep up with your maintenance.

Its crazy how cheap aftermarket parts for brakes are now. I got all new breaking system for my front end (rotors, brackets, calipers, pads) for under $250. Its nice stuff too.

I've only had the car for 3, maybe 4 months.

I'm at the tire shop now...

Draw, I do keep up with the reg maint.

The timing belt needs to be done around 120k and its at 104 now, but I'm going on a road trip in a couple months so I want to knock it out now.

I do an oil change every 3 months and its now due.

The brakes wear out over time and they now need to be replaced.

I'm also sure the aligment is all jacked up so that will need to be done as well.

You going to do the brakes yourself? It's dead easy

I might. I've done them in the past... I need to see what needs to be done first.

Oh, the new tire fixed the issue. No more steering wheel shift or steering wheel shake. The alignment also seems to be fine.

Now I just need to replace the belt, flush the tranny, and the brakes.

I'm getting a new set of tires put on right now, at about $400, they'd better be damn good. I had my car in the shop all day for a tune up and they couldn't find anything wrong. Brakes are next. Shit's going to be thin for a while, but it has to be done.
