Scotland's Independence

I was wondering how you guys feel about this situation? The vote is this thursday, I cannot wait to see the results!
Personally I am in total favor of their separation considering their situation in the UK is very similar to ours in canada. I believe that a nation with a distinct territory should be able to decide to become independent, its just part of the decolonization process which england seems to want to slow down... Plus england is using very similar propaganda tactics like this piece of crap.
I was surprised tho to see several big english names like Paul McCartney and David Bowie side with england on this one. Willy, the janitor in the Simpsons sided with Scotland, that was pretty funny :
Quote:
"Now both sides of this argument have valid points: The freedom-loving heirs of the Highland tradition and those who enjoy crawling like worms beneath British boots."
So... do you guys even care about all this, on which side are you on?

I'm all for their ability to do such, but I have no information about whether or not it's the optimal choice to do such. The struggle between various levels of government causes problems socially when 1) the original cultures of the two regions were quite different and 2) they continue to diverge as far as policies go. A local government with smaller populations will always be easier to institute "change" in, but a larger government can also be beneficial.
I view it to be their right for as long as they can defend the position to be their right to secede. I do oppose the use of coercion against a secession when it's as civil as this.
I just hope they have a stable transition if it comes to it though, because the threat of ISIS/IS is very real for those in Europe as there are actual chemical labs under their control over there. Getting weapons over the pond is quite a bit more difficult than just getting it across the English channel.

Scotland has always been more leftist when it comes to politics than England, its pretty much the same thing here as well.
They also kind of hold Englands by the balls considering that ~80-90% of Englands petrol comes from Scotland, they will be able to have a good economy because of that for some time, but they'll have to focus elsewhere soon enough since its not really a permanent ressource.
I have no idea tho how smooth the transition will be, I mean England could be a bitch and do just like canada did here, steal the vote so they have to stay with them, or block the trades, etc. They could also want to keep good relations with Scotland, which is what would benefit both countries imo. Even tho ISIS threat is urgent, I kind of doubt they'd hit Scotland before other countries like UK, France, Germany, shit man even USA or Canada, who knows.

Similar situation is going on in Spain with Catalonia. Thought you may enjoy, I hear about this quite often on account of my girlfriend's mom is Catalan and has family that lives in Barcelona.

Yes I heard a lot about it, to be honest I think any nation that wants to self-determine its future should be able to become an independent country. We've had our independence stolen by the canadian federal government in 1995, they cancelled a whole area of votes without any valid reasons, they paid canadians to come tell people here how much they liked us and needed us to stay within canada, they also wired the separatist party's building to know everything going on, they infiltrated them, etc.... I guess thats the reason why I support these nations, we are in similar situations.

I am for Scotland separating. No real rational reason. I think it has something to do with watching Brave Heart a few too many times.
