Outdoor CBD Blue Shark

Hello everyone, I am just now deciding to start a grow log for my plant. The plant is already 9 weeks old tomorrow (sorry for starting so late). I am growing Barney's Farm CBD Blue Shark. I had a nasty deficiency (suspected to be manganese) but it has been corrected and new growth is looking fantastic ![ ](https://files.growery.org/smileys/thumbup.gif) I started LST'ing the plant a few weeks ago and the new growth is already taller than what used to be the main (apical?) stem.
![](/forums/thumbs/g14-25/335739346-thumb_20140621_092101.jpg) I'll be updating whenever I see fit and as far as light schedule goes, the sun will be my guide. I will not force flowering or provide any artificial light whatsoever. If my plant begins to flower exactly at 12/12 than that is around late september for my area. I can already see some preflowers

So that's a CBD only strain or a high CBD strain? Looking forward to following along.

Are those pests on the bottom of the leaves or are they just dirty?

Uhm well if you're talking about black spots, yes that is dirt. It has been raining hard lately and some dirt splashes up onto the leaves. If you're talking about the old white/brown spots, that was a bad manganese deficiency but it has recovered since.

Looking lovely and healthy mate. I did my first outdoor grow last year in Australia, and although it's probably strain and location dependent, I can tell you that mine started to flower when the light hours dropped to 14/10.
Whereabouts are you based?

In an area with a climate extremely similar to South Florida. Thanks for the kind words. And my sunlight hours less than that. June 22nd the summer solstice (longest day of the year here) was only like 13:45 / 11:15. I want it to flower a little earlier than September.. maybe like mid August or so.

----- 6/29 -- Day 69 ------- Hey everyone, I've got another update for you guys. Nothing really exciting though ![ ](https://files.growery.org/smileys/shrug.gif)
![](/forums/thumbs/g14-26/395926232-thumb_20140628_074238.jpg) I included some pics of where I LST'd the plant. I tied down 6 branches to see if I could get the "lower" side of the plant to get extremely bushy like the "upper" side. Also, I included a close up of a leaf that I'm kind of concerned about. I did used to have a manganese defficiency but these spots look different. Diagnosis anyone? Also, I'm seeing a ton of preflowers on some of the branches. Does this mean it's going to start flowering soon, like during the next two weeks or so? Or will it just keep vegging until 12/12? There's probably no way to tell but thanks anyways. Anywho, everyone have a great day and grow on

Looks great man! Are you happy with the results thus far? It's good to see how much this plant was able to come alive after the rough start. Nice work and keep it coming!

Yes, the plant bouncing back this much has surprised me greatly. I hope to harvest some thick colas in 2 months or so. Wish me luck and grow on

I have been told to switch over to a flowering nutrient but I'm not sure if she's "officially" flowering. I'll post some more pics for everyone on Tuesday

You will know when it has started flowering. The appearance of the fine, white pistils are the first recognizable sign that a marijuana plant has begun flowering. Autoflowering plants can be expected to show their first pistils after a set period of time (generally about 30 days), whereas standard plants require a change in the light cycle to begin flowering. Pistils protrude from the calyxes of the plant, which are commonly known as “buds”, and are the female flowers on a cannabis plant. At the beginning of flowering, the calyxes are underdeveloped and often only visible if present at leaf nodes along the stem of the plant. In time, the calyxes will develop into thicker “buds”, and increase in number as the plant matures. After a couple weeks, you will also be able to see trichomes on the buds and neighboring leaves by using a strong magnifying glass, jeweler’s loop or pocket microscope. Trichomes are the part of the plant that contain THC, CBD, and the other cannabinoid compounds that we growers are aiming to harvest. It is worth noting that sampling immature buds (eating, smoking, cooking, etc.) to “test the plant’s potency” is a bad idea. Not only do the immature buds not yet contain a significant quantity of useful compounds, but cutting into the maturing plant is a bad idea – you will cause the plant undue stress, hampering the growth process and potentially opening up the plant to attack from insect pests and molds. As anxious as you are to “get to the goal”, please hang in there – your patience will pay off!
Hope some of the above information helps.
