I posted this pic and it made me think of my story.
I feel like sharing ....
When i was 9 years old i was confronted by a MASSIVE german shepherd. the dog attacked me for a solid 15 mins.... biting and scratching at my back and at my head ( i was in a ball screaming and crying).. tearing through my shirt (ended up giving me over 40 stitches in the end). Luckly for me a brave women walking by heard me screaming in a ball, and she beat the dog with a stick till it ran off. It was very painful (I still have scars on my back and my neck from it biting me all over)....but the internal scars were MUCH worse, id find out later on.
Ever since that day i was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of dogs.... sooooo scared. even small ones made me freeze up and fear my life. I guess i had reason to feel this way tho!! I could not be around a dog without tearing up and fearing for my life.
I lived like this till i was 20yrs old. then a business partner ( biker guy) invited me to go spend a week at his house. As soon as i got there i was greeted by 2 MASSIVE bluenose pitbulls. I WAS SOOOOOOO Scared.
The dogs could sense that i feared them so they avoided me (amazing animals)..... slowly the male dog would sit closer and closer to me. by day 3 he was sleeping beside me on the couch. I actually started to trust it!!! i realized it wouldn't hurt me . by day 5 it was sleeping on my lap. i would spend hours petting this beautiful dog (this was the first time i touched a dog in like 15years.) It healed scars i had inside for years. It helped me in so many ways. That trip changed my life forever!!!
So thats my story on how a pitbull changed my life. It turned my fear into love and respect for dogs and especially towards bully dogs.
I got my first dog shortly after (pitbull).... I fell in love with her. She is passed now. but she forever changed my life
Today i have ZERO fear of ANY dog!! I trust dogs more than any man. i can break up a dog fight with any breed without any fear at all. My male is sleeping beside me while i write this

Nice, I feel the same way towards them...great dogs. Pits rarely attack or bite if they're raised right from the time they were a puppy. There are always exceptions though, there are asshole dogs just like there are asshole people. But this is with all breeds, pits just get a bad rep because of the media's over sensationalization of them.

ya it was owned by a drunk guy who used to beat it, we found out later.... This makes sense why it was so aggressive.
It ended up attacking another kid a few months later and was put down.

this 100%. All dogs need to be trained proper from the time they are puppies. how they are trained, treated, and socialized, all factors into their temperament and personality
Strong breeds like bullies REALLY need structure like this...

Some dogs are more violent naturally.
They just take tougher and more consistent training.

They're animals. All animals have natural instincts some breeds more violent than others. I was actually watching a show on animal planet about this yesterday.
Sure, raising a dog the right way makes it less of a loaded gun. But it's still an animal and still has a trigger.
Like people who have babies who are attacked by a family dog, don't be surprised it bit your toddler who was loud and pulled it's ears.
Like tigers, who actually develop a taste for human flesh but you can train them for a circus, but they still attack their trainers out of nowhere.
You are an idiot if you think all dogs have the possibility to be completely non threarening. Not calling you an idiot PO, just people who really think they have animals all figured out.

I wasn't trying to start anything. Like at all.
What on earth would me being bipolar, divorced, or a mother have anything to do with dogs, I would love to hear that one.
