GIMME A BEER!
    #728778 - 05/01/14 01:11 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Instead of going to the grocery store I'm gonna check out the liquor store. Gimme some ideas.

Sam A lager and G Stout are usually my go tos.

Mirror Pond is an English Style Pale Ale. Very different from an IPA so I'm quite surprised you didn't like it. One of my all time favorite beers.

Here in Colorado grocery stores only sell 3.2% beer, so all purchases have to be either liquor store or from the brewery itself. Kinda weird.

Mirror Pond aint what it used to be.  The pitfalls of an expanding brewery, and using larger and larger tanks

I do agree with that. But, honestly I don't think it's the larger tanks as much as it is the process differentiation necessary to make that much. They likely use a Merlin system or a Calandria in their kettle to reduce boil times from 90 minutes to 20. It saves time, but anything that boils at 4 times the standard rate is going to strip a lot more than DMS out of your beer. Plus, aggressive high speed filtering, fining agents in the fermenters and force carbonation are all necessary at that scale and have an impact on flavor.

I am a big fan of Newcastle Brown Ale.. or most european beer for that matter... or any beer that contains alcohol...

Sucks here we have to get our beer at either a beer distributor or from a bar

I took Ohio and Arizona for granted, being able to buy it anywhere, and buy 40oz'ers and shit
