Delima...

So I want to take my son hunting when he's older, but my dad never took me so I don't know how. Said I make him uncomfortable...

I know how to kill things, I just don't know the rules and what have you when it comes to hunting.

I can't tell you when deer season is or any rules of the hunting world, but I sure as hell can drop a deer with no hesitation.

I wanna teach him right though. Any of you learn to hunt without anyone showing you the know how?

Do you have any friends that are hunters?  When I was into it years ago I took a friend of mines son with me a few times because he had never hunted.  Taught that kid a lot that his dad didnt know.  He still hunts to this day.

in my state they also have a hunter saftry course junior hunters must take.  Sign him up for that first and you join him in the class.  That way you will learn the local laws too! .

I have always wanted to learn how to hunt as well...

I think a hunting book or maybe some youtube videos might be a good start

It is definitely something I would like to show my girl's kid about when he gets a few years older... We're going to go camping in a month or two

There is learning hunting safety and procedure and there is learning how to hunt game, two very different learning curves.
Do things properly if you want to get into it. I have heard about way too many accidents.

Classes sound like a good start. My dad still hunts and goes quite a bit. I was thinking about forcing him to take me. I just don't want him to get the wrong idea. I can't have him thinking I'm trying to bond with him...
