Tall Plants poor buds
    #723327 - 03/26/14 01:14 PM (10 years, 7 months ago)

In the flowering room my friend has a problem.

Along the back wall are a number of plants there are in 6 inch pots.
They are over 5 ft tall, spindly and have poor flower production.
All they seem to be producing is the hairs.

In the main grow area of the room under the HPS lighting the main plats grow well.

It was thought that the plants along the side wall would do well and produce. But this is what we get.

Why wont these plants flower properly?

Plants along the back all are clones of white widow bug bud females.

Plants have been the flower room for at least 6 weeks :frown:

Would appreciate any feedback.

Plants along the wall are hand watered/ nutrient every couple days and are in soil pots. 12 hr light cycle and have plenty of light and fresh air flow.

here is what the pic look like...

thanks

this last one is so you can get an idea of the regular buds on the normal plants under the lights

Looks like they are getting poor light on the edges of the walls and they prob werent trained properly so they stretched and have minimul bud sites.

6 inch pots, with 5ft tall plants???
They would have to be root bound as fuck, and most likely need feed nutes more than once a day.  I could be wrong tho soil isn't my strong area of growing.

And how much light is in there, I mean not even a 1000 watt HPS has that much penetration?

This is your problem ^^ and maybe some heat stress as well.

The plant simply can not feed itself with such a small root mass. What you're seeing for flower production now is what you're gonna get. You can make hash/tincture out of it maybe

What are your temps like in there anyway?

Well the room is about 8ftx10 ft and has (3) 1 Kilowatt sodiums.

Yeah i was figuring that the splash light kicking to the side walls would serve to help give me a few extra plants.

My guess is that the plants pots are too small and the nutrients just can't work their way to feed the tops.

I guess what is best is to cut them off to keep the short ....or just reduce their numbers as well as heights.

I'll also point out you got 48 square foot of light in a 80 square foot room.

Thanks.....yeah the 1k lights are positioned each over a 4x4 table.

I'm starting to wonder how top growers ever make much profit...between the hydro bills and other trials and tribulation its no wonder why many probably just give up and call it a day.

If my friend was to increase any more wattage in that room there would be an additional problem of heat.

If only the windows could be opened and some of that fresh air and sunlight could be brought in. Problem is between the idiots out in the community that would steal it or report it, it would make it unwise to do open the windows.

It makes one wonder....how fucked up this dimension we exist in ...Some Queen makes a rule that a natural plant of the Earth is not allowed to be in possession of human beings.

If only folks could just wake up ...and smell the coffee....as a collective we could change things.

Your plants look extremely Sativa. Looks like those plants on the edge are getting a little burnt from nutes (going by the pic). This also would be caused by low light. Plants in the middle are getting enough light to use the nutes while plants on the edge get a little burnt cause they can't process the nutes like the ones under the light. Seen it many times.

I'm also willing to bet even under bright light there a 12 to 14 week strain.

Efficient use of the light and picking the right strain for indoor growing.

You were dead on ...with everything you said.

What is that strain you are growing?

We all learn by our mistakes and perhaps it is time I need to do more listening and paying attention.

Any points into a good direction or information source you could suggest that would help a fellow spirit out ...trying to make a difference in the world.

thanking you in advance.
