Is my cotton candy ready for harvest?

This is my first grow, and i'm not quiet sure when to harvest. I've been told that when most of the trichomes are amber in color or when most of the hairs are brown that it is ready. I'd say about 40% of the hairs are starting to turn a brown-red color. I currently don't have a magnifying glass but i'll probably just go buy one later.
I've been having a problem lately with these whiteflies.. I've been trying to kill most of them by hand destroying all the eggs and squashing any of the mature ones.. I'm wanting to harvest a little early before they totally infest my plant and move on to the other ones i have.
also let me know how much you think i'm going to get off of this plant
Here's some pictures.

Get a little hand held scope, much better than a magnifying glass.
As far as the white flies, they can be a bitch if you don't control the population. At least get some of the yellow sticky traps for them, crushing them by hand won't do much.

I'd say you have some more time until the buds fill out more. Maybe 2-3 weeks. How long has it been in flower?
I just got one of these scopes that works amazing. 60-100x and cheap. very durable feeling and has a slide stand. Its the one to get.
I tried the 30x and 40x jewelers loupe that I got from ebay for $2-3 but they are not very good, barely 10x.
Another one of those tiny scopes I tried that was 60-100 also but was made so cheaply that the switch broke off when I turned on the light. It was also so small it was hard to see. And the knobs barely broke.

I'm estimating it's been about 50 days sense flower, maybe more.
this whole process has been taking forever, maybe 6 months in now?
we started the plants outside because i didnt have a lamp at first, and it started to flower at only a foot tall. Luckily a got it back to vegging for a lot longer.
That scope is cheap! looks pretty good from the details as well.

I bet its garbage, probably not 30x.
I'd expect to go 70-75 days. Even plants that say they're ready in 8 weeks take about 10. What kind of light are you running?

That's why you support the branches. I don't think it's ready to harvest man.

Sometimes you have to chop one just to smoke. I'd guess about 2.5 oz from that.

Well your pictures are blurry and that first nug isn't trimmed so I can't judge it too much. Everyone always likes there own homegrown the best though, I know I do.

i trimmed it a little more. But the leaves are coated with thc crystals, wouldn't want to waste that. everyone loves it how it is so i'm just leaving the buds a littly leafy. They're trimmed but not all the way.

Thats one way of doing it. A lot of newbs will leave it a bit leafy to extend their firsts harvests. After you start getting larger yields its better to just trim it off--smoke the bud not the leaf. The trim goes to edibles, bubble hash or BHO, so its not like your wasting it. It also depends on the buds, some can get away with being leafy whereas others just piss you off.
I'd recommend making coconut oil out of the trim and using it for edibles. Its the easiest way to process it with no special equipment.

I used almost all my leaves towards trying to make, "blender hash". Unfortunately the metal coffee strainer i used allowed a considerable amount of trim in the final product.
The end result was a saddening to look at concentrate of leaf.
I was so disappointed.
Hopefully with my white widow it will be done right.

ahh, nothing like a failed hash adventure.
My trim this round is going to make some 'shatter.' I'm extracting it as bubble hash then loading the BHO extractor with that, then mixing the finished oil with ethanol and run through a carbon filter before being dried. The last batch of BHO was very good but the flavor had a slight trim taste to it so I wanted to see how bubble hash would compare, but then the guy making the oil wants to play around with ethanol so I just said sure.
One of the good things about coconut oil is that you don't need a filter, just keep melting it in new water and wait for the junk to sink. It might take two passes but its not hard at all. Plus it ensures you don't waste the oil by trying to squeeze it out of the leaf.
