country sausage, I made up a little over 32 pounds of sausage last week, 3 types were pork; country, Italian, and bratwurst and I also made some venison kielbasa which turned out really good

Our menu doesn't look like that above pic. It's real basic...

I just had some new frittata that my wife made. We're on this ketogenic diet thing, and she's really taken to planning out our meals.

I've been interested in this lately but haven't had the time to look into it. How's it going for you both? What's the motivation for it?

We were bother motivated by the claims of improving body composition (ability to lose some body weight and gain a little lean muscle mass) and not have to starve ourselves. The first week blows, but not too bad after you get into ketosis.

So far, I've lost about 15 lbs in a month, and my wife has lost about 10lbs. As far as the claims that the diet spares muscle during periods of high weight loss, I would say it's slightly better than other diets, but I've definitely seen some minor losses of muscle. I haven't gotten to my target weight yet, so I can't really vouch for the ability to gain lean muscle while in ketosis yet.

I will say that this is one of the easiest diets I've ever tried, because although it does have its own annoying restrictions, it allows for some pretty indulgent and delicious foods...and I'm almost never hungry.

I'll also comment on some of the stuff that I've noticed, but may be placebo effects. These include a reduced need for caffeine throughout the day, slightly increased mental clarity, and marked increase in stamina while hiking.

It's definitely worth a look, and I'll probably update once I have a month or two to try for some gains. :bobmarley:

I got homemade gumbo simmering on the stove and I'm about to throw some rib eye on the grill.
