i watched a strain hunters put out by greenhouse seeds company where they travel the world in search of disapearing land race lines right , then the guy is talking about how he is doing this to perserve these rare plants, then he go,es on about how he left these people with a bunch of his own hybirdized plants as a gift from taking from there lands where they live. i duno man but in that one perticular movie they have a bag of coke and you can hear them sniffn the shit in the back. i think this guy is a little of his rocker with his bussiness because to rant on about your mission is to save land race plants and then drop hibird seed in the his wake is destroying these original and rare plants

It is possible that some strains are not crossed with any other strain. Take for example the panama pearl islands. It is possible that through about 100 or so islands Panama red is still growing untouched by some other strain. many of them are uninhabited which is why I think that landrace is preserved somewhere there.
I made a similar thread a few weeks ago.

Dunno if its linked or anything, but it made me think to an essay I wrote about Kava, apparently that plant was so domesticated by men in oceania, that through history, it stopped making seeds and now can only be generated through planting a branch and making it grow (dunno how this method is called in english), but if men stop planting it, it'll dissapear because it cannot reproduce on its own anymore.

Arjin is fucking classic and full of shit. He doesn't give a shit about saving land races or anything close or like you said he wouldn't have left hybrid seeds for the native growers to use. He cares about making goofy strain hunter shows and selling the dvd's. He gives a shit about selling bobble head dolls of himself that say King of Ganja on them.
For a guy who is the King of Ganja check out the ratings on his seeds. Green house seeds are a joke and have been since his partner and the main breeder left to start Mr. Nice Seeds.
By the way Mr. Nice has the original versions of the strains. The deal was Arjin got to keep the names and his partner and Shanti got to keep the original mothers.
Green House Seeds are a joke at best.

I don't get why people are so mystified by landrace strains.
I sell meds to a lot of old timers that used to sling herb back in the 70's and early 80's. We always end up talking about those strains i grew up hearing about....Red Congo, Colombian Gold, Chocolate Thai etc....
He tells me they're all crap compared to what people are smoking today. Which many people already know of their low potency anyway.
There are tons of breeders hoarding these strains. I can see their potential for breeding purposes, but not in their pure form.
A pure afghani is the only landrace i would grow. Tom Hill's Deep Chunk is at the top of my list.

I just watched a few of them and all i gott say it what ASSHOLES! If they cared for the people they would share there wealth with them and not there joke ass hybrid seeds! I think i will stick with beans from known growers! who got good genetics and care about there plants (like ppl on here or another forum i am on)

People who grow to breed their "original" strains covet the pure land race genetics as a starting grounds with which to lay the foundation for future families.
