 Gnats at the seedling stage

So 3 days ago I put a few germ'd Maneater seeds in 16 oz cups of FFOF.
I didn't consider the possibility of gnats making their home in the soil while it was being unused for a few months.
Needless to say, I'm fucking infested now. I only watered them once, so I know it isn't overwatering, they had to have been there from the start.
My questions being, is it possible to transplant these seedlings to some fresh, unopened soil without stressing them out too much? Should I try a mosquito dunk? Or should I scrap them and start over? (I really don't wanna have to do that, but will if it's necessary.) They're all sprouted, but only for about 2 days.

I don't know how many seeds you have, but you could start germinating now just in case you can't get rid of the gnats. It's possible to transplant seedlings but bury too deep and the stem would rot. .......from my experience anyway

Another thought, would it be harmful to pasteurize the soil? I feel like it could be the perfect solution as long as I don't let it get too hot and sterilize it.

top off each seedling and plant in the infected area with a half inch of sand. It will prevent larvae from hatching and also keep the adult gnats from laying more eggs.
In about 2 weeks you'd have no more gnat problem.

Not possible, I only watered once when they were actually put into the soil, and it has extra perlite so it's pretty aerated.

I did that on my first grow with some full-grown plants, and it worked like magic for stopping the gnats, but I read around in a few places that warned against using the sand because it will cause a lot of salt buildup?
But, as of right now, the soil is ready for another watering and I've got some mosquito dunk soaking, and will probably go ahead and use sand to be sure it doesn't happen again.

I never heard of the salt buildup before. Maybe if you bake your sand that would help (?)

Just chiming in to say the gnats are gone with no damage (From what I can tell.) to the plants.
I just waited until the soil was good and bone dry, then watered with a mosquito dunk mix. No airborne gnats so I haven't used the sand yet.
Will be posting a growlog soon, just want to wait until it gets postworthy.
