Well the darker the area the better. You aren't giving us much to go off of, like what do you actually have to work with.

A tent could work. Just need to make sure that you have some airflow

This is how I dry my shrooms- I don't know if it will work for MJ though.
I take epsom salts (MgSo4) and bake them in the oven at 400 degrees for 6 hours or untill they become a white dry powder to yeild anhydrous Mgso4.
I than put it in a container, put a screen on top and lay whatever im trying to dry on top of that, then I seal the container. The anhydrous Mgso4 will act as a dessicant sucking all the water out of the air. Epsom salts are cheap, but you'll probably need a lot for this, and i'm not sure how well it works to take away the chlorophyll from the plant.

A tent is gonna retain moisture.... especially if there's rainfall. And temp fluctuations may cause some issues.
I'd find a good spot to hang a tarp. I used green tarps to keep the rain off my plants late in flower outdoors.
Get yourself a tarp and run some string underneath it to hang your nugs on. You'll have better airflow and more consistant temps than drying inside a tent.
Good luck with the chop. Post some picks when the time comes!

hang it in a tree away from deer and put a tarp over it to protect from rain and light. i dont see why it should be harder then that. I saw some Punjabi dude dry an entire harvest on hot rocks in the sun.

Well when I suggested a tent, I was thinking you would leave the doors open the entire time.

I still feel hanging a tarp would provide better air circulation and reduce the chance for humidity becoming an issue.I know every tent is different, but most of the ones i have used only have one door and one side with vents. Hanging a tarp high off the ground will keep most animals away....allow more airflow and keep the moisture away.
A tarp would be my choice if i were in this situation.

Legallyhomeless made a great thread with instructions on how to build a DIY Carbon Filtered Drying Chamber Check it out. Maybe this is something that could work for you. It would for sure be better than drying outside.

Well sure it would. But if he has a tent, but no tarp, then that would work. Then if he had an indoor space to dry that would be better
