Yeah man and what sucks is I was in Amsterdam back in 2000 and didn't check out the anne frank house because I was a young punk and only cared about the pot and mushrooms, lol.

I need to read that again. I had to read it in 4th grade but I've always felt that I was way too young to really wrap my mind around it.

About 70% through LOTR Two Towers. Finished the Hobbit and the Fellowship. Never thought I'd make it through them because generally when I see something happen in a movie and already know what happens its not worth it to read it for me, but Tolkien has such a beautiful way with words.

It's not like reading Pedagogy theory where it's more about just absorbing the message, and for a future educator like myself seeing how that fits into my philosophy of education.
Does that book cover much on the two books that are in that translation?
Below is the edit
-Also maybe I should have actually taken a "real" philosophy class instead of "Philosophy of Science" this semester. Then maybe I could learn more about him. Then again I just wanted third semester in a row of all science/math.-
Philosophy of science is essential in my opinion. I don't think science degrees should be given to students who do not take at least one class.

Believe it or not I have never seen a single Lord of the Rings movie or read any of the books. Am I missing out?

I cannot stay awake to see those movies to the end. I always end up falling asleep a few minutes in.

You're missing out on both, but of course the books are better.

I agree with you, but the books are also much different from the movies, I mean so far there's a shitload of chapters they ignored in the movies even tho the really important parts weren't. I love Tolkien's writings, really complete, he didn't only create a world, but also the whole history of that world, as well as some cultural differences among the races and the towns (I'm referring to the introduction about hobbits)

But I'm reading the french traduction of the book, I'm pretty sure it changes much of Tolkien's writings

If you're into fantasy and shit at all, I'd say yes. If you enjoy reading they're a great read. I like wizards and stuff so its pretty perfect for me.
Definitely start with the Hobbit if you wanna pick one. Its the most light hearted and is almost a comedy sometimes. It doesn't have heaps and heaps of names of places you'll never remember or be able to pronounce like the Trilogy does.

Well heres the book I just started and another one I just bought.
Written by Mircea Eliade, the book is Blacksmiths and Alchemists
The other one is by A. M. Hocart, the name is Le Mythe Sorcier (the sorcerer myth, about the origins of witchcraft in several cultures from all around the world)

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It's my go-to book when I want to read but don't feel like starting something new. I've read it at least 5 times and the movie really doesn't do it justice.
