It's a fact, statistically lower overhead is present in public healthcare as opposed to privatized healthcare. I'm pretty sure everyone would agree having a higher % of your insurance payments going towards medical costs (meaning it would cost less) is how you would define good health insurance practices. The government can also do other things better than privatized alternatives.
regardless we are derailing so I'm not going to post in here anymore unless I have another book to post.

Well guys, its going to be my birthday pretty soon and my parents keep asking me for gift suggestions, so I am making a list and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a good book, I prefer spiritual or non-fiction stuff, but I'm pretty much open to anything.
And just to revive a bit this thread, atm I am reading the first book of Lord of the Rings, I like it so far, I love how Tolkien really elaborated the whole history of his world, as well as the cultures of the races, and the maps, its all so complete!

I read most of Castaneda's books, they are great but you have to be careful, he's highly criticized, lots of people say he made all that up but it is not sure as he died with this secret. Still, even tho he made it up, his writings are still pretty genius!

Of course they say that. People always have to doubt things they don't understand or can't do themselves.

Man Nietzsche is an Elitist douche, and this is coming from an Elitist douche. He actually criticizes those that "casually" read, and makes some of his shit purposefully misleading to scorn the casual readers.
Probably going to be my last summer read... :/

Theres a shitload of sketchy things about Castaneda, you should check out a bit about his life, theres some doccumentaries about him that you should watch.
Its most likely that he never expected his book to be so popular, I mean it became basically one of the main new-age book. He got stuck in that circle I think and didn't want to be known as a liar so he just kept going, I mean just from his first book, theres some huge parts there was just taken word for word from a thesis that can be found at the university he went to. Thats just an example, but theres much more that does not necessarely proves he made it all up, but it points towards that, he is an HIGHLY criticized author, just for example, his books aren't considered as ethnographies, but as spirituality/fiction, my teachers at university won't even allow them in bibliographies n shit.

I'm not opposed to that. Got a specific documentary in mind?
I always hated bibliographies, damn things took longer to finish than the essay they were for.

Well, I look it at like he purposefully is conceited in order to cause his readers, especially the ones who just just through books, and the one's who hang on every word or worship the writer's ideologies. It's a challenge to every reader in order to get him or her to not only question the author but to question themselves within the archateche of his philosophy as a whole. In short, the man wanted people to take his writing seriously, and if not, you could either fuck off or experience a fresh, or as Nietzsche would put it, a greater way to see how the human mind progressed or regressed from the time we first thought of ourselves as I.
Right now I'm reading:
...and my God how good it is! It's definitely a very well researched and joyously written for the joyous reader

Yea it's just more "work" to read it because after a page or five I have to sit back and absorb what was actually said. It's not like reading Pedagogy theory where it's more about just absorbing the message, and for a future educator like myself seeing how that fits into my philosophy of education.
Does that book cover much on the two books that are in that translation?
Below is the edit
-Also maybe I should have actually taken a "real" philosophy class instead of "Philosophy of Science" this semester. Then maybe I could learn more about him. Then again I just wanted third semester in a row of all science/math.-
